Both in equal measure. Cuba is quite heterogeneous, but the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Cuba in general is women, Cuban women are wonderful.

Honestly, I think that all Hispanic countries in the Caribbean (Cuba, RD, Puerto Rico) are very similar in almost everything, with one exception or another, like Cuba having more whites, RD being more mulatto, Puerto Rico being more Triracial, things of that type.

Yeah, no doubt. There are many Afro Cubans, but I believe they are more on the lower class side of things, socioeconomically (especially since many are newer arrivals). I come from a upper middle class background personally, so just did not have much exposure to 'em. The vast majority of Cubans I knew growing up were like second or third generation, and often times their families came during the first wave or around that period of time.

Although....I did know one black Cuban kid in middle school, and he kind of had like a psuedo zambo phenotype.

The revolution has slowed down the continental trend of peasants moving to the city, so they have been preserved from disappearing into the urban masses, unlike what happened in Puerto Rico with the jibaro after the US implemented Operation Bootstrap in that island. Guajiros would be the first losers if a restoration of the old order were to happen in the island, since they benefitted a lot from the breaking up of latifundia there during the revolution by their division of the large sugar properties into cooperatives under their hands.
