This is a moshpit that does not tell you much by just looking at it here e.g. my Hungary sample is Frankish and my spanish or southern French one is Visogoth it seems blah :

Mytrueancestry is a scam.

Why?

Why?

It's not a scam. I actually know one of the devs. They use K15 calculator as opposed to K13 that everyone loves here for some reason and he also gave me a free upgrade for shilling it haha.

Why?

They cash on people's dreams to belong to Vikings, Romans, Celts.... In reality, they greatly overestimate distances to ancient samples, making people believe they are exclusive descendants of famous people.

Cashing peoples dreams is pretty normal (hollywood, video games etc.) and everyones individual decision
if he /she pays or not, I did not pay for it.

Now, how do they greatly overestimate distances?

With psychological tricks, sayings like "you are closer than 99% to this sample". In addition, the number of shared centimorgans is not transparent at all. I don't think I can have more centimorgans with ancient samples than with thousands of modern people from MyHeritage, FTDNA and 23&me.

Well, it must not be a trick. The question is, of course, what means "closer".

Good question about centimorgans. If the modern people are not related to you but ancient are, I think it is possible.
