Yes, you are right. The original tehuelche /Aonikenk people (Patagonids subrace) it seems that they were extremely tall.
But after practically all of then mixed with mapuche people (Fueguid subrace), and the last are not particularly tall so genetic changed in that sense.
Apart right now there are only a few Aonikenk/Mapuche pures or almost pures, like this musician/actor called Rubén Chauque known as Rubén Patagonia.
