I have a couple of native friends in Switzerland, they holiday in Australia sometimes. I wish we had there gun laws, then I could keep a semi automatic rifle from previous employment. :D:D

They certainly don't have as much to lament or complain about as the rest of us. I imagine if I lived in Switzerland I wouldn't see the need to seek out a "European Preservation" community online, since most of my friends would think the same way I do and we could just go to the bar together. I don't know about the rest of you, but I come here for the society.

They have problems with certain elements of people from the Balkans and Romania and eastern Europe.....and also quite suprisingly Portugal.

I have relatives in Geneva and Bern and for some reason they hate the Portugese.

Switzerland has lots of Portugese immigrants and some Swiss are fed up with their presence. Often they show the Portugese flag in their garden which ruins the look of villages and streets.

It matters not where immigrants come from; the immigrant is a segment of his native community who could not successfully participate in his own nation. This was not a cause for ridicule in the mid-19th century at the height of industrialism, but what is their excuse today? Import immigrants from anywhere and you're importing failure.

If NATO were interested in bombing countries for limiting immigration, they would have done so in Denmark. In fact, Danish leftists have even called for Obama to pressure the Danish government to stop 'mistreating' immigrants.

The immigration ban can still go on the ballot. Switzerland's direct democracy is more important than its weak government.

I haven't been following Swiss politics closely of late, but they passed the minaret ban, so an immigration ban on a direct democracy vote is possible. The SVP apparently has the signatures to get it on the ballot or will have.
