We, Latinos, are way more used to see Med phenotypes than Anglo-Muricans. The only significant Med group in the US are Italian-Americans (and also Greek Americans, Brazilian-Americans, Cuban-Americans, etc.), the only white Muricans who look familiar to us Latinos, but they are a minority in the USA, being more concentrated in the northeast, far from where most Mexican Americans in the harnizo range lives: Southwest.

The U.S has a strong history of Anglo protestant culture, doesn't really matter whos behind the border anything catholic seems as a threat the Irish Is one example.
