Don't judge this commercial junkie and OCD wonder. I just had to test with them when they offered a discount, to make the ultimate merged kit.

These results are with the "Origins (https://www.reddit.com/r/AncestryDNA/comments/otxgts/origins_hack/)" hack from here, since I didn't receive the full results yet. According to what I see from other users who received their results in July-August, the full results should be available either today or by Friday.

They don't test regions in Moldova or Moldova as a country, so this is kind of useless for now. But they promise often updates, so fingers crossed.

Then I had a genetic report from sequencing.com (I highly recommend the site in general but it is expensive) based on the AncestryDNA raw data . The app is called Genetic ancestry with with Haplogroups and that was significant different from AncestryDNA too :

British or Irish : 71% (which is less than AncestryDNA says)

French or German 18%

General NorthWest European (Dutch ?) : 8%

Broadly Eastern European: 3%

Really, there is much more to say but I don't want to highjack your thread.

I'm a seasoned veteran when it comes to commercial testing and from my experience since 2015, it seems like updates can change the results drastically. Kind of like an amateur model if you think about it. So in one update they get it right for someone, then the next iteration comes where it goes back to being shite for you, but accurate for a stranger. Rinse and repeat for how many updates they are going to have. I personally back up the results from each iteration.

I expected to be more similar to you because the difference is not that pronounced in K13 (not with Ancestry data as I don't have this one yet and I also don't know your results with the Ancestry data, only 23andme). It must be due to IBD sharing. I guess that's how they assign it.
And the Balkans category is technically quite Northern, since it peaks in Southern Croatia and Bosnia, according to their map. I'm not more Northern than the South Croatian average from K13 updated.

It's not good at all. It is very unrealistic. You, if you are from Moldova or Romania, 100% of your blood, part of it must be Mongolian. At least 1% is missing, although 1% is too little for over 1,500 years written Mongolo-Turkic invasions and probably even more of unwritten history.
Starting with the Huns, Avars, Bolghar, Magyar, Pechenegs, Cumans, Tatars, Mongols. Also adding the unwritten history, as we know that R1a and R1b come from Central Asia. But what do you think, in this test you are 0%. Isn't that disappointing? Part of your blood is definitely Turkish-Mongolian-Huno-Uralic-Urgic or whatever. This is the first thing for which this DNA test was useless, because as long as you pay money, at least find out the reality, because otherwise you would not have paid money.
Secondly, I do not see even 1% influence from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, the Middle East, Anatolia, etc. I really can't believe that at least 1% of your blood still has no influences from those areas.
My third problem: Lack of at least 1% Italian blood. You are clearly a Latin, and Romanians and Moldovans are Latin, it is impossible that in 2000 years Romanians and Moldovans will not mix. And Romanians are not 0% Latin.
I would find many more problems, this test is just useless.

That's what Eastern Europe & Russia is for. Russian average on K13 is about 6-7% East Asian/Siberian, so it's probably contained within that group. That's why I score Mordovian on LivingDNA for example. It's the consequence of extreme smoothing that companies like to do nowadays.

Rant

Why do they not assign me the three regions for Romania, General Romania, Southern and Northern? General Romania lands straight on the location where 1/4 of my ancestry is from (red pointer).
Northern Romania and Southern Romania regions also stop at the border, so they could have been assigned too.

No significant change in the results from the amateurishly merged kit that I was working with (23andme+LivingDNA+MyHeritage). AncestryDNA covers 2k more SNPs, so it tested a slightly larger part of the genome. Conclusion is that even if the tool from DNA Genics counts as amateurish, merged kits are pretty OP and don't show fake results.

Of course I do. It is loaded with Romanians. They gave me the region for Romania, but it's the Northwestern half of the country. Northern Romania community that borders Moldova and especially Southern Romania which stops 3km short of my grandpas village, would have made more sense.

There is a Czech village situated at 25km away from where my grandpa originates in the South btw. I don't know of any ancestry from there, but on this line I also didn't research further than my great-grandparents.

It's identical to Ancestry, so 172k. I would advise anyone who wants to get the maximum number of SNPs to just test with Ancestry straightaway. LivingDNA however was also quite close to this result, even though it tested only 58k. 23andme v4 was also close, whereas while MyHeritage painted the general picture correctly, it nerfed the NW Euro and East Asian type of ancestry.

Since LivingDNA, 23andme and Ancestry were fairly similar to one another, I think that the current generation of tests like 23andme v5 and FTDNA that look at about 58k SNPs are enough for the purpose of playing with calculators. But I can see a real difference between the kit with fewer SNPs and the one with a lot of SNPs when it comes to matches. With the MyHeritage and LivingDNA kits, I receive many matches in the 30-45cM range on GEDmatch, whereas with Ancestry it starts from 27cM and after 15 matches it drops below 20cM. It filters out many false positives.
