I don't know about Moldova, but in Romania there are very few gypsy specific names. They are generally related to gypsy tribe names or gypsy traditional occupations, like Baies, Caldararu etc. Nonetheless, only a small number of gypsies have this type or surnames.

Another type of gypsy surnames are those using forenames or those derived from forenames, like Radu, Raducanu, Mihai, etc. However, this practice can be found among Romanians as well, but it's more frequent among gypsies. Gypsies also used old nicknames as surnames, but this custom is kind of dead these days - those names were often vulgar, and I think they had trouble registering them during commie times.
