By African, I mean subs-Saharan African food. I’ve never tried it before.

Seriously speaking and without being racist, from Ethiopia to the south the cuisines are quite simple

Here in New York City, it seems like there is a huge variety of restaurants. Some of the most popular cuisines here includes Italian, Mexican, Chinese/Japanese, Indian, and even Arabic food as well. And the foodies enjoy tasting each kind of cuisine.

However, I do not see many African restaurants around here. I wonder why

SSA people struggle to find food, i don't think they have a specific kind of food, since there is not plenty of food avaible...

I mean, I honestly don't know if SSA cuisine is a thing really.

Depends really.

North Africa has some very cool stuff, but when talking about Subsaharian Africa, then I agree with you.

In China even ice cream and cake and everything else tastes like soy or curry... I don't like both..

I think that chinese cuisine is a little bit.. PRIMITIVE..

Why do you think it's primitive? And if it really is, what makes primitive be bad?

There is no difference in taste between one dish and another .. you eat one and it is as if you have tasted them all ..

Of course there is. I have tasted one a long time ago. Dunmo if those dishes were influenced by colonial times.

I have never tried but I'd like to try. Ethiopian one seems surprisingly lavish & delicious considering how poor this country is.

If you are not feeling different tastes I recommend you go test for COVID-19, as that's one of the symptoms.

There are plenty of dishes of African origin in Brazil and they are all pretty good.

Nigerian food is actually really good. They use a lot of flavorful spices to make simple dishes like chicken and rice.

If you’ve had any kind of Carribbean food like Dominican or Puerto Rican; they’re heavily influenced by West African cuisine

I disagree, I know some plates from Portuguese ex colonies and they are quite tasty, a bit on the spicy side (lots of jindungo) but I like that. Their cuisines in Mozambique and Angola are a fusion of Portuguese with many African ingredients. Many seafood dishes also and the cooks from there are usually pretty good.

South Africa is also good, many different influences and good meat, plus good wine.
