A FAILED asylum seeker is allowed to stay in Scotland because he plays for a five-a-side football team.
Amir Beheshti was originally told he must leave Britain after judges ruled it was safe for him to return to his homeland Iran.
But the 40-year-old, left, who lives in Springburn, Glasgow, claimed the move would breach his human rights because he has a private life in the UK.
And a judge has now ordered Home Secretary Theresa May to reconsider Beheshti's case — despite a series of failed appeals.
Lord Glennie said: "He had integrated well and socialised at the gymnasium, at five-a-side football, in coffee shops, at college, in the library and at their homes."
But Emma Boon, of the TaxPayers' Alliance, said: "If the occasional cuppa with friends is enough to keep a failed asylum seeker here, taxpayers will wonder who can't claim human rights to stay."
Beheshti insisted: "I've got friends here. It's my home."
