Greetings everyone, it has been a long time. I am lurking around once more and decided to share some DNA results to hopefully have some new insights brought to me by your geniuses.
Some background on the matter: I am something like the avarage Brazilian of predominantly European descend. I have worked hard on my family tree during quarenteen so I have much more of a grasp over my heritage than I had 10 years before (when i used to be a active member around here).
My dad got branches that go really far back on Brasil, I dare to say some of his ancestors were among the first settlers (First on São Paulo, than Minas Gerais) in Brasil. He also has a lot of Portuguese ancestors who migrated later (mostly from the north of Portugal from the region of Porto, Vianna do Castelo, Braga.
Others come from Madeira or Azores and are likely new christians). Naturally there's Sub Saharan Africans and Native Americans added to the equation, but I cannot pinpoint exactly who they are and when they joined the gene pool.
My mother is from Southern Brasil and descents mostly from Italians and Germans. Her father was a 100% Italian (mother from the north, Bolzzano. Father from the south, Salerno). Her mother is half German (Saarland, Rheinland-Pfalz and north Hessen) and the other half... I dont know! I couldn't find anything about my Great Grandmothers family, and I must rely on family rumors that aren't supported by DNA results - She was supposedly the daughter of a portuguese and a native american woman, but my Mother's results on my heritage (it is displayed below) shows no Native american or Iberian ancestors. It shows balkan, rather (????). I hear that the My Heritage algarism is odd with Southern European though (The reason we used My Heritage here is distribution).
Now to my inquiries: The amount of French I got could be a read from my mother's northern Italian/German admixture (Considering the regions of Germany she descent from is quite close to france)?
What to make of the Balkan read we are getting from My Heritage that we are not getting from Ancestry?
Please let me know if you got anything useful to add, specially if you know about South America/South Europe migration or genetics. I really appreciate it. Now to DNA:
