Genes matter (not for anthrotard reasons) 7 SNP sets depending on your SNP profile(s) are crucial to your health :

MHTHR

DAO

COMT

MAOA

GST/GPX

NOS3

PEMT

Alot of people suffer under the delusion that genes or genetic expression is written in stone because they are ignorant of epigenetics but in fact even if those above genes are dirty you can clean their expression for optimal health through diet, exercise, limiting stress, reducing exposure to toxins and supplements not to mention moderate exercise. MHTHR is responsible for over 200 processes in your body and a dirty MHTHR, DAO and COMT set of SNPs can cause bipolar etc... like behavior but most psychiatrists are ignorant of epigenetics and are corrupted by big pharma so they will say some bullshit like "you need to be on neuroleptics and lithium or depakote etc.. for the rest of your life " .

Still Waiting for the Nebula Genomics Kit.

It is beyond belief that there's no phone number I can call. It is also beyond belief that they do not use major courier services such as FedEx, DHL, and UPS for all international shipments.

Especially considering that they charge an arm and a leg for the tests (almost 500 USD).

8 different tests?
Smh

Not 8 different tests, but 8 different companies. Depending on the testings offered. So definitely more than 8 tests. Way, way more.

Guess I really trust them, huh? Quite the contrary. Not especially after getting an incorrect Y DNA result from FTDNA. And even more so after an incorrect ancestry report from DNA Diagnostics Center (DDC) Cincinnati (https://archive.md/REOZp#selection-861.98-861.305).

Hopefully 23andMe will clear some things up for me.

Vikas, your results are expected by November 15
Keep in mind processing times may vary and it may take up to November 29 to receive your results.

STARTED ON NOVEMBER 4
We are reading about 600,000 locations on your extracted DNA. This step usually takes 3-10 days.
On to genotyping! Thanks to this technology, we’re able to read around 600,000 letters in your DNA, which power your 23andMe results. We use probes to turn your sample into knowledge.

LATEST UPDATE:

We're running our scientific models on your data to produce your reports. This step takes up to one week.
During analysis, colors are translated into your DNA letters and important quality control happens. This is the final step before your results are ready.

I'm definitely expecting to be of the E1b1b haplogroup and probably expecting to be of the E-V13 subclade.

My 23andMe Maternal Haplogroup Report:

Your haplogroup, shared with the people of the Corded Ware culture, traces the long line of women in your family tree.

You descend from a long line of women that can be traced back to eastern Africa over 150,000 years ago. These are the women of your maternal line, and your maternal haplogroup sheds light on their story.

Vik, your maternal haplogroup is W6.
As our ancestors ventured out of eastern Africa, they branched off in diverse groups that crossed and recrossed the globe over tens of thousands of years. Some of their migrations can be traced through haplogroups, families of lineages that descend from a common ancestor. Your maternal haplogroup can reveal the path followed by the women of your maternal line.

Haplogroup W appears to have originated in the Middle East about 20,000 years ago. The haplogroup reaches its highest levels among the Sindhi of southernmost Pakistan, and is also relatively common in northwest India and among the Kurds and Mazandarani of northern Iran. Members of haplogroup W may have entered present-day Pakistan not long after their branch arose, traveling eastward at the end of the Ice Age about 15,000 years ago, when the warming climate would have brought increased rainfall and better chances for survival.

Although W is most common in the Middle East and south-central Asia, it is also sprinkled at low levels around the rest of Eurasia. It is found at single-digit percentages in central Asia, along the Atlantic coast of Europe and in Finland, and slightly higher percentages in Eastern Europe.

W6 is relatively common among 23andMe customers.
Today, you share your haplogroup with all the maternal-line descendants of the common ancestor of W6, including other 23andMe customers.

1 in 660
23andMe customers share your haplogroup assignment.

Haplogroup W has been found at sites from the Corded Ware Culture.

110905

The name of the Corded Ware culture comes from their characteristic pottery, which was decorated with cord-like designs. The people of the Corded Ware culture likely grew out of the steppe culture north of the Caspian Sea approximately 4,900 years ago, and were highly mobile and used horses and wagons extensively. They spread west to cover much of central and eastern Europe from the Volga to Germany and the coast of the Baltic Sea, spreading proto-Indo-European language with them. In fact, their language was the common prehistoric ancestor of Celtic, German, Baltic and Slavic languages.

While the expansions of horseback warriors from the steppes are associated most strongly with the spread of paternal lineages, a number of maternal lineages also grew in frequency with the spread of the Corded Ware culture from the east. Researchers have found members of haplogroup W in remains from both the steppes and Corded Ware sites, suggesting that W may have been one of these maternal lineages.

Vik, your DNA suggests that 99.6% of your ancestry is Gujarati Patidar.

Gujarati Patidars are members of a genetically distinct community from western India who descend from primarily agricultural and merchant classes. (Patel is the most common last name in this community and is related to the name Patidar, which means landowner). Over the centuries, as Patidars married within their community, a distinctive genetic heritage developed. Today, people with the last name Patel represent around 15% of the population of Gujarat and almost 10% of people of Indian descent in the United States.

According to FamilyTreeDNA:

Y-DNA Haplotree - Confirmed Haplogroup is C-K466

According to 23andMe:

Vik, your paternal haplogroup is C-Z5896.
As our ancestors ventured out of eastern Africa, they branched off in diverse groups that crossed and recrossed the globe over tens of thousands of years. Some of their migrations can be traced through haplogroups, families of lineages that descend from a common ancestor. Your paternal haplogroup can reveal the path followed by the men of your paternal line.

Your paternal haplogroup, C-Z5896, traces back to a man who lived less than 45,000 years ago.
That's nearly 1800 generations ago! What happened between then and now? As researchers and citizen scientists discover more about your haplogroup, new details may be added to the story of your paternal line.

Furthermore!:

You belong to haplogroup C-P92, a branch of haplogroup C that likely arose less than 45,000 years ago in the Indian subcontinent. The earliest members of C1-P92 lived 20,000 years before the height of the last Ice Age and 35,000 years before the development of farming in the Middle East. Haplogroup C originated 65,000-76,000 years ago, about the time humans began migrating from Africa en masse. The earliest members of haplogroup C lived about 30,000 years before the extinction of the Neanderthals.

Haplogroup C is found throughout East and Central Asia, Oceania and Australia. Though haplogroup C-P92 is one of the less common groups in haplogroup C, it has been found at low or moderate frequencies in people of several populations in India. Specifically, members of C1-P92 have been found in the Dhodia, Dubla, Konkana, Vasava, Gamit, Valvi Chaudhari, Nana Chaudhari, Mita Chaudhari, Lingayat, and Vokkaliga populations. The closely related haplogroup C1-M356 has been found in people of Indian, Pakistani, and Chinese descent.

C-Z5896 is rare among 23andMe customers.
Today, you share your haplogroup with all the men who are paternal-line descendants of the common ancestor of C-Z5896, including other 23andMe customers.

Description: There are two types of DNA Ancestry tests available: Y-DNA STR marker testing for tracing paternal lineage and mtDNA sequencing for tracing maternal lineage.

Trace your paternal ancestry using Y-DNA: All males carry Y-DNA which is inherited along the paternal line. Y-DNA testing allows you to trace the ancestry of your direct paternal lineage (your father’s, father’s, father’s… paternal lineage). Using your Y-DNA test results, you can find out whether you are linked to any other male individual along your direct paternal line, search a global database to seek long lost paternal line relatives from around the world, compare against indigenous populations from around the world to see which population is the closest match to your Y-DNA type, compare against famous people in history, and find out which ancient Y-DNA Haplogroup you belong to. Please note that only males have Y-DNA so only males can take the Y-DNA test. Females wishing to trace their paternal lineage must test the Y-DNA of a male relative along their direct paternal line, such as a brother, father, male cousin, uncle, etc.

Y-DNA test method: PCR analysis of short tandem repeat (STR) markers in the Y-DNA. 20 to 101 Y-DNA STR markers can be tested.

So Good to Know. It's always a good choice to go for accredited labs (https://archive.md/NTpcE).

The Genetrack Advantage

Warning, beware of Brokers! Brokers are NOT laboratories. Brokers pretend to be DNA labs, but are usually owned and operated by private merchants who set up online stores to sell DNA tests and then pass your samples to another laboratory for testing. Do not be misled. Brokers usually charge a high price for the DNA test and profit from the markup, and include other hidden lab fees after you order your test. Even if a broker is able to match the price of a real DNA lab, it is unlikely that they can match the quality of testing and accuracy.

Always deal directly with the DNA testing laboratory to ensure that you are receiving the best pricing and service. Genetrack is one of the largest DNA testing laboratories in the world, performing over 100,000 tests annually. Genetrack is ISO17025, AABB, CAP and CLIA accredited. Always deal directly with the DNA testing laboratory.

Why not? C-P92 is a branch of the tree, C-Z5896 is a deep clade of it and C-K466 is an even deeper clade, which means it is the most exact result of these three. All three are applicable.

And why did you initially expect to get E1b1b?

There are 37 (!) different calculators at GEDmatch and some of them have Oracles and some have aditionally Oracle-4. So "Post your Gedmatch" is a rather nonsensical request.

Besides this, here it's obviously about to compare the performance of different companies.

According to the EasyDNA (https://easydna.com.au/dna-ancestry-tests/) ANCESTRAL ORIGINS Report:

Each dot in the large population match map represents an individual population that the tested individual's genetic profile was
compared with. Hundreds of populations, comprising fifteen anthropological regions, are utilized to create this map.

ABOUT THE POPULATION MATCH MAP AND ITS STRENGTH INDICATOR GRAPH

Through several stages of analysis and statistical calculation that take genetic and anthropological factors into account,
populations that the tested profile is most likely to be genetically linked with become apparent. The populations with an
apparent link to the tested profile are indicated by highlighting them in green or yellow, depending on the strength of the link.

Each population's dot has a shape that indicates which anthropological region it belongs to. This, in addition to the color of the
population’s dot, allows the populations and regions that the tested individual is most closely related to - in a “geogenetic
sense” - to be seen at a glance.

The populations in the African Immigrant, European Immigrant, Asian Immigrant and Hispanic Immigrant anthropological
regions are known as “dispersed” populations, and indicate migration to North America from other native lands. Where
possible, they have been placed where they belong in North America. However, with the dispersed populations that appear in
the ocean, only the ethnicities of the people sampled and the fact that they are somewhere in North America is known, not
their current specific location.

The Population Match Map has a Strength Indicator Graph on the right side of the poster. Where the colors of dots in the
Population Match Map indicate the strength of each individual population, the bars in the population match strength indicator
graph display the overall strength of all the populations contained in each matched anthropological region in comparison with
other matched regions.

The Regional Affiliation refers to the 15 anthropological regions currently included in the database (FoGG DB). The Number of Population Matches refers to the number of databases in the corresponding Regional Affiliation that rank as Good (Yellow Symbol) or Best (Green Symbol) on your unique map. Individuals that are known or suspected to be multi-racial may show a stronger linkage to a particular Regional Affiliation due to the statistical odds of genetic inheritance.

Kevin Alan Brook (http://www.khazaria.com/genetics/gujaratis.html) notes in Gujarati Genetics (https://archive.md/QlaO5#selection-73.341-73.577) that "[o]n average, Gujaratis have 81.9% South Asian ancestry, 7.6% European ancestry, 4.9% Southeast Asian ancestry, 2.8% Austronesian ancestry, 2.3% West Asian ancestry, and 0.4% Northeast Asian ancestry, and most don't have any West African."

I'm way, way above average, in regard to European ancestry; and conversely, way, way below the average in regard to South Asian ancestry.

We ought to note that the boundary between Asia and Europe (https://time.com/5800209/asian-american-census/) has no official line, so the definition of "Asian" may include Central Asians, East Asians, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, Southeast Asians and South Asians, as well as West Asians.

In The Prodigal Tongue: The Love-Hate Relationship Between American and British English, Murphy writes about a British journalist whose use of the word “means ‘from the Indian subcontinent,’ and so when he wants to talk about people from China, Korea, or Japan, he [says] east Asians. In America, the situation is just the opposite: say Asian and people assume ‘east Asian.’ When people mean ‘south Asian,’ they’ll probably say Indian or maybe South Asian.”

Of course, there is no such thing as the perfect DNA test (https://archive.md/IVF2B), and there has always been the problem of whether the lab performed the genealogical DNA test accurately.

111200

The results should be taken with a grain of salt, for obvious reasons.

Multiple DNA testing companies (https://archive.md/TuLXa#selection-1215.0-1215.205) need to be used and the results need to be compared, in order to produce comparable and compatible findings and conclusions.

Ethnicity results on 24Genetics: https://archive.md/KLsnY

I just ordered my last DNA test kit (the ninth, and last in the list) from 24Genetics (https://24genetics.com/en/).

Express Shipping FedEx, DHL or similar. Kit return included.

How accurate is 24Genetics? Very accurate. Unlike some DNA tests, 24Genetics sequences and stores your whole genome, meaning it's very accurate. What's more, the ancestry DNA test analyzes 700,000 genetic markers and coveres more than 1,000 geographical regions.
https://archive.md/XJZzH

Overall, I feel like my top most results from this company are accurate but it's missing significant locations and the smallest percentages are likely just noise. An interesting assessment, especially the more specific break down that you don't always get from other companies, but as with any ethnicity report, don't take it too literally. https://archive.md/UqIDk#selection-675.1-675.341

It’s estimated the industry will be worth a staggering Ł7.7bn by 2022; in the last year alone, market leader AncestryDNA pulled in $1bn in revenue.
https://archive.md/SBRSv#selection-1127.28-1139.27

Privacy is a major concern for everyone using these sites, but perhaps more so for those from minority backgrounds. For those who are already discriminated against, having their genome used against them – for example, in the criminal justice system – could have serious implications. An internal report revealed that in 2017, AncestryDNA received 34 law enforcement requests, and provided information to 31.
https://archive.md/SBRSv#selection-1279.0-1279.605

There’s also the question of just how much information is passed down through a person’s DNA. Thomas explains that we probably inherit very few genes from our ancestors; DNA is inherited in “chunks” that break up the further back in time you go. “You start with two parents, then four grandparents, then eight great-grandparents, it goes to 16, 32 and so on. And by the time you go 10 generations back, there are ancestors from whom you inherit no DNA.”

Knowledge is most definitely power.

23andMe had devastating news about my health. I wish a person had delivered it (https://www.statnews.com/2019/08/08/23andme-genetic-test-revealed-high-cancer-risk/):

To my utter shock, the results showed that I have a mutation in a gene called BRCA1, which puts me at a huge risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. I broke into tears.

At first, I didn’t believe what I was seeing. My father’s sister died of breast cancer when she was 37, but her mother (my grandmother) and her sisters all lived long healthy lives. My aunt’s death was always talked about as an unforeseeable tragedy, not a family legacy. I knew that being an Ashkenazi Jew (100%, according to 23andMe) put me at a higher risk of BRCA but at 1 in 40 that’s still only 2.5% of my tribe.
https://archive.md/VTC5U#selection-1379.0-1387.36

Home testing: a parlor game?

On every step of this journey, I was aware of one glaring fact: All of this would have been infinitely more difficult if I had to do it while also fighting cancer.

23andMe says its mission is to empower users with information, and I did feel empowered. If I hadn’t taken the at-home test, I likely would not have seen a doctor and a genetic counselor and had my genes tested. And instead of being able to take preventive action, I would probably have ended up undergoing the same surgeries but with the added complications that come with chemotherapy. In that sense, I am infinitely thankful that at-home genetics tests are cheap and available to people like me.

But with the growth of DNA testing, it can feel like we’re treating serious medical diagnoses as a parlor game, and that’s frightening. As scary as it is to get the news that you have a mutation, getting a clean bill of health from 23andMe could potentially be worse. While the company is quite clear that it tests for only three variants in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, it points out that there are more than 1,000 variants in these genes that can elevate individuals’ cancer risks. In other words, a report from 23andMe showing that you don’t have a BRCA mutation doesn’t necessarily mean you’re in the clear.

“That’s where I see potential downfall,” says John E. Lee, program manager at the Genetic Counseling Clinic at Cedars-Sinai. “For the three variants they test for, they’re very accurate, but they’re not looking at the rest of the genes” that can lead to breast or ovarian cancer.

A chargeback (over 700 AUD) has been filed, and I would not recommend them. There's no phone number to contact them and unlike most other DNA testing companies, they do not use the best delivery options for international packages (FedEx, UPS, DHL).

I have been informed that USPS has stopped and suspended all services to various foreign countries including Australia.

Compare this with my latest order (over a thousand dollars and the last one in the list) from Genetrack Biolabs based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Top Notch Service. I received my kit within a few days (via FedEx Express)!

If you are trying to do a full genome sequence, use sequencing.com

How in the hell did I get such a high EasyDNA East Asian reading (22.82%).

In any case, the highest component is Northern European (31.98%), followed by South Asian (31.36%).

So anyway you look at it, a large majority, almost 70 percent, of my ancestry comes from outside of South Asia or the overwhelming majority of it is not Indian or South Asian.

ABOUT THE NATIVE REGION MATCH MAP AND ITS STRENGTH INDICATOR GRAPH
A modified set of analyses and statistical calculations have been performed to identify the so-called “Native Regions” of the
tested genetic profile. Most people will only have one or two regions. These anthropological regions indicate a more “deep
roots” match than does the Population Match, and as such there are no “dispersed” anthropological regions indicated on this
map. If there is more than one match, the strongest match is indicated in green, the rest in yellow.

Your STR PROFILE is a permanent means of
individual identification. Unlike a name that may be
shared, an identification card number that can be
stolen, or photographs that change over time, your
personal DNA identity remains constant from the
moment of conception to the end of life. Your profile
demonstrates your genetic similarity to family
members as well as the genetic uniqueness that
distinguishes you from the rest of the world. Should
you or your family need help from a law enforcement
agency – such as in search for a missing person due
to abduction, accident, or a natural disaster – your
profile is fully compatible with the internationally
recognized DNA identity standards.

UNDERSTANDING MIGRATION
It is not uncommon to find some surprises in your Ancestral Origins map. One key to understanding your unique geogenetic
makeup is to understand the history of human migration and how natural migrations along with conquest and discovery have
contributed to the mixing of people and nations. Human migration is movement (physical or psychological) by humans from
one district to another, sometimes over long distances or in large groups.
The movement of populations in modern times has continued under the form of both voluntary migration within one's region,
country, or beyond, and involuntary migration (which includes the slave trade, trafficking in human beings and ethnic
cleansing). People who migrate are called migrants, or, more specifically, emigrants, immigrants, or settlers, depending on
historical setting, circumstances and perspective.

Your ‘Ethnicity Estimate’ Doesn’t Mean What You Think It Does (https://archive.md/Y76Hs)
The limits of ancestry DNA tests, explained (https://archive.md/DOkfL)

So what accounts for these differences (https://archive.md/DOkfL#selection-2185.0-2185.313)? Overall, discrepancies in ancestry testing don’t mean that genetic science is a fraud, and that the companies are just making up these numbers. They have more to do with the limitations of the science and some key assumptions companies make when analyzing DNA for ancestry. What’s not always obvious from these reports is that they’re based on estimates that can vary from company to company (https://archive.md/DOkfL#selection-2185.0-2185.313), and have built-in sources of error. Your results from one company can even change over time as the company signs up more users, and gathers more data.

The issue with "inaccuracy" in DNA ethnicity reports (https://familyhistorydaily.com/genealogy-help-and-how-to/understanding-dna-results/) doesn’t have anything to do with your actual DNA. Rather, it has to do with how your DNA is interpreted and presented (https://archive.md/0pfU6#selection-679.0-689.102) by the companies providing your results. Each of these companies uses software to compare your information to that of available sample populations in their databases – and it is in the way that these available sample populations are structured, their availability (or lack thereof), how they relate to each other and how the company chooses to present this information to you that causes confusion. This can be demonstrated by looking at several tests from different companies for the same individual.

DNA test result data have been described as "the gift that keeps on giving," and companies like Ancestry.com and 23andMe have disturbingly vague policies on data-sharing.

The intellectual property specialist notes that "Once that information is out there, I lose control of it. It's not like a credit card you can change. Once privacy is gone in respect to your DNA, it's lost forever." And he adds that as artificial intelligence advances, companies like Ancestry are going to be doing more DNA analysis and sharing. Another consideration is security. No DNA analysis service can guarantee it will never be hacked. And then there's common-or-garden human error, such as an employee emailing data to an outsider by mistake. "These things do happen. In fact, you could almost say it's inevitable they'll happen," he says.

Their Y-DNA and mtDNA results are accurate and reliable, but their Ancestry tests must be avoided at all costs.

Their DNA Origins testing provides an estimated percentage of ancestry from the four founding population groups:

European. This people group includes Europeans, South Asians and Middle Easterners
African. This group includes people with roots in the Sub-Saharan region of Africa
East Asian. This people group includes the Koreans, Chinese, Japanese and Pacific Islanders
Indigenous American. This group is composed of people who migrated to inhabit North, South and Central America

According to HomeDNA (DDC) / AlphaBiolabs:

...people residing in Europe, Middle East, and South Asia (India) share common ancestral markers
dating 10 to 50,000 years ago. In testing various world populations, for example, South Asian Indians are
found to have a substantial, but lower, level of “European” markers while Middle Easterners exhibit a
higher level of “European” markers. In the DNA Origins test, the average South Asian Indian exhibits
58% European ancestry, while Middle Easterners have about 80-90% European ancestry. Additional
examples of test results from various world populations are provided in the chapter, “Average Results for
Various Populations.”

The Indigenous American founding population also calls for more explanation, because of this group’s
migration history.

Indigenous Americans came into the New World from Central Asia over many thousands of years in
three major migrational waves: The first started possibly as long as 30,000 years ago and brought in
the Amerind speakers. This is the largest group of Indigenous Americans in the Western Hemisphere,
and over the ages they have intermingled with other populations like the Spanish invaders and other
Indigenous Americans....

Because of the migration pattern of Indigenous Americans, many people of Italian, Greek or Turkish
heritage (and some Middle Easterners) may show “Indigenous American” ancestry—as much as ten
percent—because of migrations from Central Asia south and west into those regions. Turkey was the
passageway into Europe from Asia (the region occupied by Uzbekistan, Kazhakstan, Afghanistan,
Southwestern Siberia, etc.). Central Asians do show overlapping markers with Indigenous Americans who
migrated North and East to the Bering land bridge and into the New World.
Further, many people with European heritage should take into consideration the fact that the Roman
(Italian) armies conquered and occupied much of Europe—including England—for more than 1,000
years, resulting in an intermingling of the genetics markers from that source. (Ireland, which is an island,
was never occupied by the Romans, so many of the descendants of earlier “Erse” ancestors approach
100% in their European genetic portraits.) Thus, low levels of Indigenous American heritage could be
detected in Europeans whose ancestors may have never set foot in the New World....

These ranges show the other percentages this person could be, though any percentage is up to two times
less likely than the percentage indicated by the red bar. Though this person is most likely to be 45%
European, and 55% Indigenous American, they could also possibly be 35% European, 65% Indigenous
American—though it is two times less likely than the MLE value of 45% European, 55% Indigenous
American. You will notice that there are confidence bars for the East Asian (EA) and African (AF) groups
too. Thus, it is possible that this person is 44% European, 54% Indigenous American, 1% Sub-Saharan
African and 1% East Asian, though again, it is significantly less likely than the most likely estimate of 45%
European, 55% Indigenous American.

The "European ancestry" estimate is far too low, especially considering that the European group, according to them, includes South Asians.

Compare this with the Ancestral Origins Report from EasyDNA Australia:

Northern European 31.98%
South Asian 31.36%
Southern European 8.74%

In the AlphaBiolabs DNA ancestry test, the average South Asian Indian displays 58% European ancestry, while Middle Easterners have between 80–90% European ancestry.

Stay away from these businesses offering Whole Genome Sequencing tests!

This scam has been reported to Scamwatch (https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/) / ACCC.

Briefly describe the scam

Nebula Genomics and Sequencing.com are the same company engaging in potentially fraudulent business practices. Nebula Genomics does not have a number and Sequencing.com does not answer calls. Sequencing.com is registered in "SIOUX FALLS SD" and both companies ship their products out of HIGH POINT, NC 27265 using USPS.

The United States Postal Service has suspended its deliveries to Australia, but all my issues fell on dead ears. I contacted them via e-mail and through online forms requesting them to ship with DHL Express or FedEx. No response whatever.

These businesses offering "Whole Genome Sequencing" tests definitely need to be investigated. It all seems very suspicious to me. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) recently launched a formal investigation into Dante Labs.

Good Morning Vik,

Thank you for reaching out to us here at Sequencing. My name is Dez and I'm happy to help you with this. I apologize for the delay in responding as we are experiencing some communication and staffing challenges. Unfortunately, we do not send our packages with any other shippers than USPS because of the tracking provided by them and the contract between them and our company. Unfortunately, your kit had shipped out on 12/8/21, so it would be impossible to ship with a different carrier at this time. We have not been made aware that USPS had halted shipments to AU. In fact, most packages have been getting there just fine, however a little later than expected due to customs and holiday transit. We have been telling customers to please allow up to 30 business days to receive their kit before letting us know it was not received. If it has been determined lost, we will gladly either refund you or send you out a replacement kit, free of charge. At that time, I would be happy to find out if we have any other carrier options for you!

To answer your other question, Nebula is our lab affiliate and depending on which kit you have ordered, it will come from their address so that it may be returned there.

I hope that clarifies a bit and thank you again for writing in about this. Have a very happy holiday season!
Thank you,
Desiree

Hi

We’re sad to say that after careful analysis, our lab wasn’t able to get enough data from your DNA sample to meet our quality standards. This is quite rare. In fact, it only occurs in approximately 1 out of 1,000 samples and can be due to insufficient or a low quality DNA sample.

In the event of a test failing, you have two options. You can either:

Give the test another go. We will send you a new kit free of charge
If you decide you do not wish to try again we can provide you with a refund less handling and shipping costs (25%)

If your second test fails you will, again, have 2 choices. You can either
Give the test another go. We will send you a new kit free of charge.
If you decide you do not wish to try again we can provide you with a refund less handling and shipping costs (50%)

After 3 rounds of testing, we are unable to provide any further tests or refunds.

If you would like to re start your DNA adventure we need to send you a new kit to re collect the samples. To do this we need just a couple of details from you.

Please reply to this email with your desired delivery address* and contact number so the courier can reach you

This will be a brand new test and will need to be activated before you return it. Once your sample arrives at our lab we’ll let you know when your results are ready. This is normally within 6-8 weeks which allows enough time for all the complex testing to take place.

Thanks for your patience,

*We can’t deliver to PO Boxes. A signature may be required for delivery

Kind regards,

Emma

Dear Mr Patel,

Attached you will find your preliminary DNA analysis results generated by our automatic routines to give you a first impression. Your results are now in the process of being checked manually.

Generally there are only minor adjustments to be made. The final results of our analysis will be sent to you as a printout by mail in the next few days together with some explanatory text and background information.

Merry Christmas,

mtDNA sequence bounds?
Roots for Real <roots@geneticancestor.com>
Tue 28/12/2021 12:49 PM

Thank you Vik. Most interesting, especially the discrepancy between C-type versus E-type assignment for your Y chromosome. Please note we would normally test for this using the client's saliva swab but in this Reanalaysis of your existing FTDNA profile we entered the supplied FTDNA allele values including their Y-type assessment. They are a reputable company so I am surprised to read that their SNP or their STR values seem to be at fault.

On a different matter: The mtDNA profile you provided does not specify precisely which segment of the mtDNA genome was sequenced, so we had to make an informed guess. Do you have any information from the company where the sequence begins and ends? This should not affect our database search result, but it is good practice to make sure.

Sincerely,
Peter

I've always wondered if that should result in major changes in outcomes.

Dear Vik,

We have taken another look at your submitted Y profile (generated by FTDNA and others) in view of your additional information that the other companies' E1b1b classification is doubtful.

By comparing STR profiles we can estimate which classification is reasonable. An E1b1b classification is possible, but a slightly more likely possibility is a classification as C5a-P92 (which in ISOGG 2017 nomenclature is C1b1a1a-P92).

This reclassification does not affect the geographic results that we have already presented to you.

For a confirmation of the Y-type we would need you to order a Y test and send us a saliva sample, which you mentioned you are already considering. My view remains however that the extra expense would provide only a marginal gain of information.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
Peter

Dear Vik,

Further to my email just now, it appears to me FTDNA have reconstructed a theoretical human reference sequence (RSRS), and then provide a list of net differences between your mtDNA, their theoretical sequence and the real-life Cambridge reference sequence. How clunky.

In view of this complication, could you please press their button "download fasta file" and email me the fasta file? This should be conclusive.

Thanks,
