She said her name is of Czech origin but in her family nobody speak czech anymore, so it must be further back

strange name, we say hnizdo (гніздо) as well in Ukrainian, it's the Russian gnezdo (гнездо), it means a nest. it seems it's the same in Czech as in Ukrainian.
