View Full Version : Quiz: What's Your Spiritual Type?

safinator

"What's your religion?" It used to be such a simple question to answer. But now you might be "spiritual but not religious"--or raised in one faith but practicing another. Maybe you're a Methodist but think of yourself more as an evangelical, or a seeker who is anti-religion--or born again. The old categories don't seem to work because the religious landscape has changed so much.
The quiz is meant to help you learn about your self, see how you compare with others, and have a little fun. Please allow about 10 minutes for completion.

The quiz identified me as a "Confident Believer," but I think that's a bit optimistic. "Questioning Believer" seems far more accurate. In many of the questions, I was forced to select an answer that was not well representative of how I feel, but rather was less removed from my beliefs than the other choices.

You have left out the most important type: Impartial Observer.

And at the other end there should be: Religious Fanatic. ;)

These questions are not relevant to Paganism or how Pagans express and feel about spirituality.

I scored a 37, Spiritual Dabbler. I have experimented with various religions and philosophies and found nothing stuck or was convincing enough, I lend more of an ear to science (when I can understand what is being said that is) and rely on my own critiques of secular moral philosophers (more often than not it's a critique of combat rather than acceptance) to guide my moral compass.

According to some people here Bosniaks(sandwiggers) are European( ) so not all "Europeans" are past the primitive stage I'm afraid.

I scored 44

40 - 49
Active Spiritual Seeker Spiritual but turned off by organized religion.

A couple of times I had to pick the best answer rather than the correct answer for me. So in reality I would be at spiritual dabbler/Active Spiritual Seeker borderline.

33, but I don't agree with it. I answered that I don't mind religion, but I myself don't believe at all(and I never will. I've tried, it's just not in me), so somehow I'm a dabbler?

I voted Old-fashioned seeker before I took the quiz...

My result: You scored 61, on a scale of 25 to 100 ... 60 - 69: Old-fashioned Seeker -- Happy with my religion but searching for the right expression of it

Which puts me close to : 50 - 59: Spiritual Straddler -- One foot in traditional religion, one foot in free-form spirituality

Kind of goes with the old Shakespearean admonition, "This above all, to thine own self be true, and it shall follow as the night the day, thou canst not then be false to any man."

or, from my own Piparskeggrsmal, Staves 10 - 15:

A man of Faith, and Troth with Gods
Who stands at Blót, to Worship give
Sits at Sumbel for Oath and Boast
And LIVES his life, not little bits

I only know, that I believe
In Faithful Troth, to Holy Ones
My Words and Deeds, with Rightful Wit
Do shape myself and build Orlay

To know a God, is goodly thing
Except, perhaps, when it is not
To know oneself, is best of all
For meaning comes, from deep within

The Holy Ones are Gifting Folk
Providing all that Man shall need
Unless, of course, we do not work
Mortal effort brings room and board

By Gift of Blót and strength of Deed
Our Kinship ties with Holy Ones
Are forged anew and tempered true
And build Orlay within the Well

To those you love give words of thanks
When living ears can drink them in
Regretful tears may water weeds
But Kinfolk dead find them no use
