This SNP influences appearance and is located in the TPCN2 gene. A study [PMID 18488028] of 5130 Icelanders (with further followup in another 2116 Icelanders and 1214 Dutch individuals) found significant association between a group of SNPs within the TPCN2 gene. All of the discovered difference between blonde and brown hair could be explained by genotypes with rs3829241 and Rs35264875. The A allele was significantly associated with blonde versus brown hair with a P-value 6.2e-16

Just wondering what people have on this? These are mine below. I have light brown hair with a reddish tint.

These are my results.

Well A is the blond haired snp and you carry one on that. The older versions of 23&Me was better in my view because they tested a lot more snps.

The recessive blonde hair gene for rs35264875 is not T? although sometimes it seems confusing to me.

Correct in the case of rs3829241 the A allele is associated with blonde hair, in the case of rs35264875 it is the T allele. :)

My father has also obtained these results, I don't know exactly which marker he must be referring to. YourdnaPortal didn't give it to me but I see that in Sequencing I have several T/T of HERC2 although I don't know which one.

Genotype: TT
Gene: HERC2

People with your genotype are four times more likely to have blond hair and blue eyes

People with blond hair have low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin. Ranging from platinum, strawberry and sandy blond. Red and fair hair is found mainly in the North West and North East of Europe above the 35th parallel.

Also my father got this one in YourdnaPortal, I don't get it in Sequencing he does appear in Sequencing

Genotype: GT
Gene: LOC105370627

People with your genotype have one copy of this variant for blond hair.

People with blond hair have low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin. Ranging from platinum, strawberry and sandy blond. Red and fair hair is found mainly in the North West and North East of Europe above the 35th parallel.

My father also gets the latter in addition to YourdnaPortal at Sequencing and I don't get it at either company.
