A county in my state wants to have a book burnin' party. Mainly these are books that are disgusting in nature that were recently taken out by the school board . Some of these books are pro pedophilia and contain explicit sexual material. I say burn 'em. Education over indoctrination.

No, it's not okay to burn books. That's pretty uncivilized. If these books are really pro pedophile, then the state must ban it.

Yes, but they are pro pedo books and porn that are put in the schools of younger children. Also burning the books is a form of protest, as the books are still printed and in circulation. So the practice is more symbolic than anything.

If you bought the book you can do whatever you want to it, it's your book. You can wipe your arse with it, just as I can wipe my arse with my Quran or my Bible if I wanted to.

If the books do not belong to you and you seized them from people who want to read them then you are a fascist.

Yes, especially blind faith books.

I think that there is nothing morally objectionable about destroying a truly objectionable book. But burning is just dramatic and only draws attention to the whole affair- why not recycle the paper?

Qurans certainly should be thrown in the flames; to protect children from pedophile sect called islam.

These books are pro pedo books they are trying to push in the children's schools. I don't see anything wrong, I believe there are exceptions to every rule. Normally I oppose book burning and censorship. Each case is unique.

So it’s just in the library at school? Or it’s apart of their curriculum?
I don’t think it should be apart of the curriculum but after reading the link it sounds more like the book is addressing an issue rather than being pro-pedophilia and in that case, burning all the books won’t change what’s going on in the real world.
