This time, when the photos looked French, I said Portuguese.

Except with this one:

The thing is no one has any idea of who these people are, their names or where they are from. This girl doesn't look portuguese or like any girl i've seen here. Even her fashion style is way off.

Her type is completely foreign here. How is that possible?

Maybe she's an example of the difference between Madeirans and mainlanders that some users have mentioned?

Well, she represents a minority of Portuguese, her type can be found even in Spain at the same reduced frequency and certainly more common in Madeira.

I know there are dark people here, but they don't look like that girl. Take Rita Pereira for example... her look is much more familiar to me.

The other girl just doesn't look familiar.

Also one thing I notice and I don't know if people realize it or not but it seems like more than half of celebs and many regular citizens in france, especially if they're from the bottom half of the country, have Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or other background in them if you dig enough into their bio. Makes me wonder just how much migration went on from some of these countries into France over the years.

Well SE France, like Nice, Marseille not to mention Corsica have historically been very connected to Italy, while SW France and NE Spain are seen by some as a very related region.

How much migration from these countries? Enormous!

Southern France, and especially South-Western France, is an area that had since the 18 century extremely low birthrates, while the neighbouring countries were much poorer but bred like rabbits (until their demographics recently collapsed), hence a huge differential pressure.

The Mediterranean coast from Marseilles to Nice is majority Italian. In Languedoc-Roussillon (East of Marseilles up to the Spanish border) the ten most common surnames at birth for the period 1966-1990 were:

1 GARCIA 4469
2 MARTINEZ 4014
3 LOPEZ 2679
4 SANCHEZ 2605
5 MARTIN 2221
6 PEREZ 2183
7 VIDAL 2129
8 FABRE 1572
9 FERNANDEZ 1559
10 RODRIGUEZ 1490

All Spanish, except for Martin and Fabre that can be Southern French but are more probably Catalan in that area!

There are about 5 million French with Italian, Spanish or Portuguese origin and not only in border areas or places that have always had a presence of these groups
