Can you be neither Walloon nor Flemish if you're from Belgium, at least he's a combo of both right? How can you be neither of the 2 major ethnic groups of your country unless you have knowledge that he is specifically something else? Being from Brussels doesn't mean you can't be one or the other or both, as far as I know. However let's discuss his name...the first name Florian is used both in Germany and France but his last name is Flemish for sure, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's pure Flemish and nothing else.

Being Flemish means being born in Flanders, being Walloon means being born in Wallonia, and Brussels is technically neither in Wallonia nor in Flanders :)

He is likely a French-speaking Bruxellois, so he would not be considered Flemish in Flanders, yet has a Flemish name but many people in Wallonia have Flemish names yet aren't Flemish, and vice-versa.

Yes Belgium is complicated.

Actually it doesn't matter because they are linguistic groups more than ethnic groups anyway... he is Belgian and looks Belgian.
(I stand by North-Atlantid but with a little Faelid)

Very North German looking (primarily Faelid)... After all, that's exactly what he is, with a surname like Van Bael.
