I have muslim friends too but a few of them occasionally drink booze and even sometimes eat bacon but not in Ramadan I think they do believe in God they are not atheists but they are less strict I think only some Muslims interpret the sura exclusionist while the mainstream says it means only the kafirs who will make you disbelief not generally

My Muslim friends don't drink alcohol but are very open to discussing all sorts of subjects including religion and immigration. A few I know are from the South African Muslim community but one of my friends was born in Pakistan and came here as a child. They are all very nice people and have lovely families.

I prepare lamb beef and chicken if I invite Muslims I don't force them to drink nor offer it to them they want it themselves but only one old bosnian the rest of the family does not they are Bosniaks I guess the old man is influenced by socialism in Yugoslavia

Chicken isn’t important for me because I doubt that anyone sells halal chicken, it’s impossible to slaughter them this way in industrial plants. But meat is very important for me that is halal, I also would eat kosher, Jewish rules are very similar to Muslim rules. Alcohol isn’t a big problem, many drink it here too.

The South African Muslims are not as strict as the ones from Pakistan. Some are married to non-Muslims and the ones I know dress very Western.

I had Bosnian friends when I grew up who were Muslims, but none of us were very religious. The Bosnians usually had quite non-strict parents who let them do almost all that they wanted.

There are some fundamentalist types (not necessarily in the violent sense) who despise non-Muslims as "kaffirs", but they are very much a minority.

You mean Salafis, probably.

A Muslim guy was rather my accompolice in youth crimes . Besides , had some other Muslims also in the larger circle back then . We used to pay them a visit on Eid every year (for their korma , biryani & sewaiyan) . They reciprocated on Holi & Diwali . They might be having different interpretations to it may be idk .

Why did you become religious? Have you lost a family member or a close friend?

I didn't mean that I became religious, just that none of us were when we grew up. I come from a pretty non-religious family, even my maternal grandmother is a non-believer.
