I have any matches of ashkenazi origin (self reported, even one Rabi), with apparent no close connection to my genealogy. I have some suspicions but as far as I know my ancestors from eastern europe were orthodox.

I do have proven sephardic origins, but it's quite far and distinct from ashkenazi.

Could these matches mean I have some ashkenazi ancestry?

I don't know about commercial tests, it may be somewhat different with them but for example I have a Gedmatch kit from a Russian guy who scores VERY close to one of the Russian average (a distance of less than 2.0) but for some strange reason he has a number matches with stereotypical surnames like Finkelstein, Cohen, Baruch, Feldman, etc. He does score some East Med but nothing exceptionally high for an East Slav. However, his Y DNA is not typical (E-V13).
