Nothing more than just mere curiosity brought me to this question, since i've been messing around a bit on that website again and it gave me some very strange results. If anything, it did manage to break down my native-american quite well and my african but my European is all over the place. Is this test even remotely accurate?

Any test is only accurate as far as your personal genetics IN ADDITION TO your testing companies' interpretation of your analyzed genes. My experience is that MDLP 22, like many MDLPs, are more oriented toward mixed Europeans (i.e., those will Northern as well as Southern, Med, MENA, etc). So everyone's experiences will be different, and some tests will be accurate for some people and entirely inaccurate for others. MDLP 22 is no different.

That is indeed a very fair awsner. In my experience Eurogenes may be more based on more "Pure" Europeans? If that makes any sense. Because i tried taking those tests to seperate and distinguish my european components and it clustered everything into atlantic and baltic and my oracle distances in the 4th population oracle were a minimum of @7 of sorts.

I was just asking because i do have a confirmed polish ancestor, but this test seems to give me alot of Italian in my results, and i've never heard of anyone in my family being from italy. And i also see some Ashkenazi Jewish? If i may ask your opinion, do these results make sense to you given my heritage?

My father is from America, my mother is a caribbean biracial.

I think these results are about as good as you might get. No calculator really knows if someone is Italian (as an example), they simply weigh averages against your make-up; since you're "biracial caribbean," that means you probably have some Med and thus some calculators will see that as Italian if not Spanish and so on. I think your MDLP results show essentially a Black hispanic-Slavic mix. That's what I would interpret from the results, if I didn't know your background.

These are my results from yourdnaportal.
Seems reasonably good with picking up my east central euro/Hungarian side.
But not so accurate in detecting my British ancestry.
The nmonte at 50/50 splits me half French half Ukrainian instead of (half Hungarian, half British)
I like my results though.

Very interesting yes, i like reading through different people's results to see if they make any sense for them and if the calculators actually pick up on their ethnicity and genetics. As for me, AncestryDNA is very akin to Eurogenes in a sense, it gives me about 1% jewish, and about 2% balkan but no eastern european. Then every single other test i take for example on Gedmatch, yourdnaportal, and many other free tests i've taken and uploaded my Raw-DNA to give me tons of Eastern European. Then again, i do have a confirmed ancestor from Poland but often i score Russian, Bulgarian, Romanian, and Ukrainian too.

As for my actual ethnicity, no test often gives me Hispanic since i do not think i actually have any iberian ancestry. The european on my Caribbean side is Dutch so it is very interesting to see how these tests pick up on smaller percentages since i am atleast 50-60% north-western european, the rest would probably be slavic. And yes in truth ive seen that alot of TA'ers recommend Eurogenes and seem to prioritize it over other tests, if it works best for them though then that's great yes, as for me all the results i get on Eurogenes K13 are very strange and they do not even pick up on most actual north-western european ethnicities i have. It does give me alot of lithuanian though, then again i do not know of any baltic ancestry

it is interesting how it inteprets your hungarian ancestry as Lithuanian in some areas, that is quite strange. Do lithuanians or latvians have any type of eastern european ancestry? If so then it would make more sense how it gets clustered in there. Nice results though! :thumb001:

Im assuming some calcs at times interpret the Slavic/East European as Lithuanian.
As a mixed European I think what happens at times is calcs also give midpointed populations when trying to assign a single population to a person who in my case for eg is half NW Euro and half East central Euro. So a midpoint population would probably be German for eg. I tend to get East German or Austrian a lot. For some reason my Oracle results tend to lean closer to my central Euro ancestry than my NW Euro ancestry.

The Nmonte 50/50 on this has me east shifted at French/Ukranian. If there is any accuracy in that then I might assume my British ancestry may be a bit continentl Euro like and my Hungarian ancestry might be slavic shifted such as Slovak or Rusyn like. But this is just one possible theory.

Well thats indeed a interesting theory. Being mixed "anything" really makes calculators kind of cluster people differently i've noticed. But yes that would make sense that if you are mixed european that some calculators would instead cluster you as like a "intermediate" so like eastern germany yes. As for me it is a tad harder to tell because my european is very mixed. I have confirmed ancestors from Britain, France, Germany, Ireland, and Poland but whichever component the calculator picks up on entirely depends on what that calculator is geared towards. So far i'd say MDLP Project is probably best for mixed people, and ive also seen alot of good tests on YourDNAPortal and nMonte. I do think your genetics are interesting though, only once have i ever met a person from Hungary. He was quite a nice person, though the one i've seen definitely looked a bit more levantine admixed of sorts since he was tan and had black hair which is quite interesting
