To all Burzum fans on TA:
What do you think about Varg's work since he's out of jail? (Talking about Belus and Fallen here)
Personally I think it sucks, compared to his old work.:(

No matter the expectations I had, I think they are still good albums, certain riffs are immediately recognizable with the grim, buzzing tremolo as unmistakably Burzum. Definitely one of the more unique acts still out there. I find myself listening to the new albums more often now, hits the spot when I'm in a certain mood.

I generally liked Varg's music despite certain disagreements I had with his philosophies, despite what people say about the Filosofem album I liked it enough to purchase it a ways back (no longer have it, nor do I have 90% of my old collection these days as I sold most of it off). The newer music I don't think captures the same emotion as the older if that makes any sense. More into Silencer these days anyways.

Belus: mediocre; Fallen: below mediocre.
But I've never been a huge fan in the first place, mind.

I really hope you don't really hope 'cause it won't. He said in one of the old interviews he was studying to be a programmer of some sort. I think he should pursue that career.

I bought the last album in Empik in Poland on July. (that's like the Polish HMV or Fnac) . I paid 60zl. I liked the previous one better. Artwork was cool though. Second track I liked the most.

His music is different since he's come out of prison. He hadn't played anything for years while in the slammer. I like his old stuff better.

He actually did, he recorded some amazing ambient albums while in prison. I even got my critical aunt to appreciate Hlithskjaf. I personally think his ambient tracks, especially Tomhet, were some of his best work. Det Som Engang Var is probably his most brilliant and hypnotic metal track.
