I got thinking about this when I uploaded my mother’s raw data to TellMeGen...I saw many members results, and it didn’t appear like everyone was getting liberal South Asian points. Here’s my mother’s:

On 23AndMe, my mother used to score a small 0.1% South Asian which I dismissed as noise...however, it is not impossible that it was picking up a sliver of something real. It has since dissapeared. I have had conversations with JosephK (who has some Roma admix), who has stated in his own experience that 23andme does not pick up the south asian in partial Roma very, very well and evidence of his own admix is not really detectable on 23andMe with the most recent updates.

Now, she does NOT get any Roma genetic groups on MyHeritage (uploaded results via 23andme data), but it is reasonable that it is "hiding" in her eastern european categories.

Let me know what else may be useful. Incidentally, my mother's known ancestry is 1/2 Polish (Litvin Poles), 1/4 Danish (on paper, a little German admixed in there), 1/8-1/4 odd amount Swabian German, approx 1/16 Ashkenazi..

Is this 23andMe data? If so, that data (which gets lower snp's on GED calcs), tends to be a little noisy. So this could be something, or it could be nothing, hard to say.

Your mum says is 8% roma, that is less then 1% southasian, because a full roma is 20% southasian or it is somewhere around 1% it is possible that she is 8% roma. But that is very minor, and wouldnt be easy detectable.
