The bad colorization by whoever did it makes it look like he's got med color on him but the other pix doesn't show med color.
Being from that very northern part of France he's probably not med. Looks more alpine and Atlantid hard to figure out from very old pix with colors being not accurate.

He's tanned and chesnut hair with brown eyes.
According his military paper he's "colored" at the level of skin color, that's mean good tanned hability because of his work mostly.

Tanned because a worker, so exposing to the sun almost every day...

I looks like him a lot, but his face is native to Gouy-Saint-André, nothing strange, but maybe this is strange for people with a ignorance about some native phenotype of native town of native Northern France.
