In general though English kits are pretty homogenous, nearly all falling on the Irish-like to Dutch-like spectrum (and contrary to popular belief, most are closer to Dutch). A few plot closest to Germans, seldom is one closest to Scandinavians, and I can't remember seeing one closest to French.



It seems people from south east England what was thought to be one of the most north Germanic areas are very close to south dutch and kits like these are decently common looks similar to the one I showed u except the one I showed u had the average levels of west med in England and like 1-2% higher Atlantic

England is somewhat diverse, but not really compared to the Netherlands, let alone France or Germany. The point I like to make is that Britain and the British Isles especially are more diverse than people make out. The exaggeration of the anthro-genetic similarity of British Isles peoples is a bugbear of mine, and conversely, so is the exaggeration of the cultural difference/hostilities between modern Irish/Scottish and English.

In general though English kits are pretty homogenous, nearly all falling on the Irish-like to Dutch-like spectrum (and contrary to popular belief, most are closer to Dutch). A few plot closest to Germans, seldom is one closest to Scandinavians, and I can't remember seeing one closest to French.

I got them for gedmatch kits with gedcoms (family trees) with usually at least 7/8 great grandparents from a particular region. If the tree didn't go back that far then 4/4 grandparents would suffice.

And contrary to what people have said on this forum there are plenty of people with practially full English ancestry, easily found. I think I collected nearly 500. People with ancestry completely from one English region are seldom though, these days.

I'm also curious about the Sub-Saharan African ancestry for each region. It seems like the English average is 0.18 percent SS African but can we consider that just noise?

Also, why would Finnish people have 0.36 percent? It looks like Central Greek people have less than these parts of Europe at 0 percent! And Italians don't seem to have elevated SSA compared to, say, Germans. Why would Japanese (0.30) have more SSA admixture than South Italians (0.27)?

Why would English people have on average 0.40 Oceanian?

Yes. The low SNP count probably has something to do with it. For that reason I never used kits with less than 78k SNPs.

The question is, after looking at all these kits, can one say the English are genetically closer to the Dutch or Welsh? I know (as you elaborated on), the 'Southeast England' component is rather bogus in that is more western-shifted than it actually purports to be (unless that is lost in translation on my part) but most of the kits (genuinely) originating from SE England seem closer to the Dutch/Northern Germans. Other sources paint a different story, whereby the Welsh are 1.5 times closer to the English than their Dutch counterparts (with the English themselves being far closer to the Dutch than northern Germans).

Interesting how there (in a Northwest European context) seems to be so little overlap between the English and the French even when concerning those from the north, particularly when taking into account the more 'recent' non-Brythonic/non-Germanic ancestry the English have (distinguishing them from the Welsh & Scottish) that undoubtedly came from straight across the Channel in what is now Northern France. The 'French' component that came over to England must have belonged to a very phenotypically/genetically unique populace. 'It' was seemingly smaller in number than the Anglo-Saxon migrations anyhow (being responsible for 30% of the modern English genome compared to 40% of the Anglo-Saxon variety).
