BELGRADE -- The Public Prosecution is not giving up on a proposal to ban far-right movement “1389” and has expanded its initiative, Prosecution Spokesman Tomo Zorić says.

The prosecution has expanded the initiative by submitting a proposal to ban “SNP 1389” and Naši Movement.

“After a public debate before the Constitutional Court, determined facts and gathered documentation it was determined that a new organization, ‘SNP 1389’ had been born from ‘1389’, whose leaders are Miša Vacić and Igor Marinković,” Zorić told Beta news agency.

He pointed out that the organization continued to “incite national, racial and religious hatred, intolerance and active intolerance toward minority groups”.

“Considering that the original request did not include the new association, the Prosecution has withdrawn the initial request and filed a new one ten days ago, which now includes ‘SNP 1389’ and ‘Naši’ from Aranđelovac,” the spokesman said.

According to him, the new initiative is precise and allows the Constitutional Court to make the right decision and that it, as Zorić said, to ban the organizations.

Belgrade-based daily Večernje novosti has reported that the Constitutional Court has suspended the process to ban “1389” movement.
