I know, it is pronounced Neev and it is an Anglicised form of the Irish Gaelic name Niamh, meaning "bright".

I knew a Serbian woman whose name was Svetlana, I know that you are not Serbian but maybe that name is related with Russian (or is exactly the same).

Is that name related with snow also? We used to call her in Spanish "Nieves".
