The most popular man's name in Latvian is Jānis, followed by Andris, Juris, Edgars, Māris and Aivars. The most popular women's names are Anna, Kristīne, Marija, Inese, Inga and Ilze. Fashions in personal names tend to change, so that new, modern names come into use, while old, long-forgotten names may reappear. Yet some centuries-old names continue to stand the test of time: Kārlis, Ilze, Pēteris, Anna, Juris, etc. The majority of Latvian names are local variants of European Christian names, while many others have been borrowed from neighbouring peoples, and about ten percent are unique to the Latvians, for example Irbe, Sniedze, Viesturs, Dzintars, Auseklis. Many of these Latvian names represent animals or aspects of nature, such as amber, star, snow or a bird species. Visvaldis, for example, means ‘all-ruler'.

svenskar är den överlägsna rasen här va :D

Swedes are the superior race? You're entitled to your opinion, of course. ;)

Why do Swedish speaking Finns have more international names? Pretty nonsensical question, if you ask me. Maybe someone else can chime in with an answer, though.

Well those forum members who don't want to be mislead and manipulated by a member of this forum who belongs to "nation of Islam" will appreciate it and care about it ...

Besides them who cares as well are 1.5 million Serbs who live in it along with tens of thousands of Bosniaks and Croats who live there and pay their taxes and bills and go to work every morning (if they have a job of course :D)....oh and lets not forget Republika Srpska makes only half of Bosnia & Herzegovina and without it Bosnia stops being and existing as a sovereign country maybe its scenario you would like to see because in that case your people could finally form a proper Bosniakistan jamahiriya :rolleyes:...oh and you could launch terrorist attacks on Holland that you hate so much and you personally could go and hunt down Civis Batavi and would have a safe place to run back to and hide somewhere in Bosnian mountains :p I can already imagine you holding a position on Vlasic mountain all dressed up in Nikab with your faithfull PK MG

http://onlinejihad.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/112809_1605_picturesoff1.jpg?w=450

Anyway, since you are an adult Bosnian and I assume you have Bosnian Citizenship I wonder if you have ever read the constitution of your country or perhaps you are one of those few Bosniaks who has and respects only one constitution, the "constitution of God" delivered in Koran :p In such case it would make you what? An Islamic fundamentalist or even worse a hypocrite with serious cognitive dissonance to deal with...

Living in denial ? :p
It cares about you since you have Republika Srpska citizenship and then also Bosnian & Herzegovian citizenship, you have both citizenships because that's how the constitution of Bosnia & Herzegovina regulates it. If you have issues and don't accept the Bosnian constitution then its your right and you can do it as long as you don't break the Bosnian laws because if you do then its something that state security agency SIPA is to take care of as they did in a Wahhabi village Maoca only 10 days ago oh and even today they arrested someone from that village who also has not cared about the BiH Constitution and its laws :coffee:

Hunter
Channing
Skyler
Dwyer

All the others, yes. But Dwyer?

None of these are as bad as what black people name their children, at least. For example, Clitoris (pronounced "clih-TOR-rus"). I'm not even joking. :....

These are the type of names that seem to be very popular, in my opinion:

Chance
Taylor
Tobey
Reagan
Hunter
Channing
Skyler
Dwyer
Carson

You get the drift.

What about "forenames" like Clark, Cooper, etc..?

I so wanna hit people who use surnames as first names.

Give them a proper name like Jack, or Edward, or Eleanor.

Meh! Too Norman for my liking.

What are the most popular given names in your country?

I haven't been to Portugal in a while and I don't know what they're doing now but when I was there I think the most common were Jose and Maria or variations of those.

But I also remember there being a trend where parents would give their children names that they would hear in Brazilian soap operas :picard1:

Don't really have a list of the most common names, but I can tell you that my little boy is going to be called either Afonso or Martim. I wanted Ildefonso or something Visigothic like Hermenegildo or Leovigildo, but my lady isn't too fond of those old traditional names lol

Here it is: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_CrmolI_tKqZ2U4QkJ2WUhidHc/view?sle=true

Maria tops the chart.

Well, you see in South Africa things are slightly different as we have Whites, Coloureds and Africans.

Whites are Europeans of English or Afrikaans descent. So in the European category you'll have English names such as Matthew, John, Claire, Susan and Andrew coming up.

In the Afrikaans category you'll have names like Johannes, Barend, Elmarie, Marieta, Gerhardus and Alwyn.

The Coloureds are effectively mulattos (considered as Black in the US) and they like to emulate ghetto culture and like the ghetto names like Mikayla and Caitlilnn. If you hear of a Delmino, She'earl or Marlon, you can safely bet that they are Coloured.

The African names are names which REAL black people give their kids. I say REAL because they are African Africans, not European or American Africans. They will usually have a second name, which is a European one everyone else can pronounce. In the past nobody has bothered to learn their language, so to make it easier the children have a second European name. They favour names like Prudence, Florence, Faith, Mildred and Constance. For the men often just John, Michael and Max or some weird ones like Nylon, Pardon or Smiley. But the first name is an African name. They really appreciate it when you go to the effort to pronounce their first name and call them by it because they will always introduce themselves to Europeans with their second name.

EDIT: I obviously don't know the people at your varsity, but if they are recent immigrants they will most likely have an African name and just call themselves John or Mary to make things easier for everyone else.

Wow that's really interesting actually...I noticed that in Australia the sudanese immigrants who are Christian usually have a 'Christian' european name, following by a native family name, or vice-versa. They are actually some of the most respectable and upstanding people i've ever met. When i say sudanese, i'm talking about the very archaic looking south-sudanese people, who are extremely tall and lanky, very thin usually with a very distinctly shaped head.

As for Australia, it depends on socio-economic status. Fat (white) whores with fatherless children tend to give their children names in reference to black ghetto/hip-hop culture, Tyson, Dre, Marshall, i even saw a child called Shakur once.:picard2: The more middle-lowers tend to be ethnocentric, names like Tristan, Liam, Niall, Blair, Padraig, very well-researched celtic names. Middle and Upper whites tend to be more like Steven, Charles, James, Andrew, Thomas, Carson, etc

There will be a Top 10 Afrikaans names list too.

But since English is the official of the official 11 languages and only the Afrikaners speak Afrikaans (the Coloureds speak Afrikaans but give US ghetto names). Only Afrikaners will give names like that and there aren't enough to get into the country's top 10.

They often call the son's name the maiden name of the mother. So if the father's surname is van der Merwe and the mother's maiden was De Villiers, the kid will be called De Villiers van der Merwe. Crazy, because you never know if the name is the person's name or surname.

You also get some weird combinations for girls because they will make a mixture of the two first names of the two grandmothers. So if Grandma 1 is called Zelda, and Grandma 2 is called Johanna, you might have a girl called Johelda.

Or Grandpa 1 is Louis and Grandpa 2 is Johan, can end a boy up being called Luan.

By the way, Bakkies Botha's first names are John Philip.

And Francois and Jacques are French names from the French Huguenots.

I'm adding links to the top 300 most commonly given names in Slovakia in 2012 for both girls and boys. The number to the right of the name stands for the number of babies which were given that name. There are also similar names (with just minor differences in spelling, e.g. Sára, Sara and Sarah). They are counted separately and thus also rank differently.

I love traditional names such as Josip, Adam, Marijan...Names that young parents give to their children are short names Ena, Dora, Mia, for boys still traditional names.
