Racism Decried in Philly Fire Department
PHILADELPHIA (CN) - The former president of Philadelphia's black firefighters' union claims the city firefighters' union retaliated for his objecting to its practice of allowing retired members to vote in union elections, which "makes it difficult if not impossible for an African American to win a leadership position in the union" and "perpetuates the cycle of racial injustice."
