Interesting question. I guess lack of blue could be the result of lack of seashore (so important ports, trade). Lack of purple is an idicator of the lack of monarchies for sure.

Because most shithole countries post-independence based their flags on Ethiopia's, they have no culture of their own anyway seeing as they're all just arbitrary carvings of land by colonial European powers, so they just chose of the colours of the only independent part of Africa (with a stable monarchy ignoring that time with Italy). Even Bolivia has black monarchy.

Pan African colors. Nature and blood is obvious, the yellow gold is what they lack.
