View Full Version : My try of the estimative of Celt DNA in Iberia

The Iberian peninsula was a very Celtic region and at one point in history it was almost entirely Celtic in the West and quite Celtic in the East as well, first I used Iberian samples from the Iron Age that represent Iberian peoples, Tartessos, MAYBE Lusitanians/Vetones and other related pre-Celtic peoples, as it is widely accepted that the Proto-Celts were Hallstatt I used samples from that culture and from Gauls, and then I added samples from NA and Levant, to represent Iberomaurisian interactions, Phoenician contacts, Moors, Jews and some Romans, I did not add Germanic samples since besides of Suebi and Visigoths being VERY mixed and heterogeneous the results can be confusing, i dont have any Proto-Basque/Aquitani sample so sadly i cant model well basques, may have a strange result.

Do you think the results are correct? If you have any samples to add, show me the results, I am currently studying Pre-Roman Iberia and would like to hear from more experienced opinions if these results seem consistent, I am trying to create an estimate for Central Europe but it is very difficult, it is a region very heterogeneous and well mixed. I thank you for your patience for reading my little text.

Edit: Looks like if i use some Occitan samples they score ~9% MENA, maybe its from Italian admixture or i need better MENA samples? and the Celt varies a lot, with some samples i score 10% (Low as Hell for 45% Galician), with others i score 16% (Still very low) but if i take off Iberian I3321 and Celt ERS86 i can score 22% (With is normal), idk if celts were very diverse or if is my extra ANE and WHG begin modeled like Pre-celts (Who generally have more WHG) anyway, i believe scoring ~20% is the correct.
