Some could be of Iberian or Italian descent, though few if any people in the photo look non-European. (All the more ironic, given how Strasbourg has one if the largest non-white populations in all of France).

How non white is Stratsbourg? From what i gather apart from Paris and Marseilles most French cities are majority ethnic French, much like how in the UK only London and Birmingham are mainly non British.

Apart from Paris and Marseille, the most heavily non-white French cities tend to be in the East: Lille, Lyon and Starsbourg, though Southwestern cities like Bordeaux and Toulouse are also pretty multi-ethnic. Btw, you should know that Leicester, Slough and Luton are majority non-British too.

Well Lille when i went seemed fairly white, on par with perhaps Brighton or Bristol, Leicester, Luton etc are not really proper cities imo though, a major city to me is more 500k plus.

Leicester urban area is nowadays well over 400,000. Only that (a) much of it is outside the jurisdiction of Leicester City Council and (b) compared to other comparably-sized cities, Leicester's rail network is pretty limited (basically Leicester station itself, plus Syston and South Wigston), and there is no tram or metro either.

Yeah though on the ethnicity matter i would say that no smaller French cities are as non white as Leicester, non whiteness in France seems mainly confined to the Ile De France, the UK is distinct in that the areas surrounding London are still relatively white with ethnic centres more distributed towards the Midlands and towns in the North.

Not true. That said, much of the Med coast apart from Marseille is still relatively White, e.g. Toulon and Nice.

Yes and no. As you know full well yourself, some Southern towns like Slough, Reading, Oxford, Cambridge, Bedford, Peterborough, Luton, Woking, Crawley and High Wycombe have lots of Indians and Caribbeans in particular too.

Yet even in Leicester, in addition to some council estates, there are other environs where you wouldn't really guess you were in such a multiethnic city. Just look at the crowds for Leicester Tigers or, to a lesser extent, Leicester City:

Not saying they necessarily are, but let us not forget that France has the largest Portuguese, Spanish and Italian immigrant/diaspora populations in Europe.

Black people etc have virtually no interest in Rugby or Cricket, a crowd at the Oval would be similar in composition despite the surrounding area being about 40% Black. Even less successful football teams command a predominantly White crowd, just look at the West Ham fans or Millwall fans etc.

Reading is more diverse but i was thinking of towns in Surrey, Essex and Herts, still very White despite their proximity to London, Oxford is mainly White, Woking and Crawley are i think, Wycombe is like a suburb of London but is an exception generally, the Medway towns, Dartford, Southend and Hertfordshire towns still mainly English.

Also, I was just looking at photos of Leicestershire Country cricket club, and while loads of South Asians play for the team, here too their numbers among the spectators are tiny.

I suppose it isn't really a hobby of S Asians to go to cricket matches, different culture et all.
