Well, you know your heritage so use the references that you think are correct for you ;) as E.African in Latin American is pretty rare then removing and using just the SSA was my recommendation.
But it's interesting about Brazil's case, I didn't know it.

Still your results are pretty good :)
I appreciate any calculator but I'm quintessentially "Northwestern" on calculators because that is all I am so I was surprised at the distance but I'm not close to Germans so not surprising that my distances aren't great. :) You put something like Orcadian, Shetlandic or Icelandic in there and I'd be significantly closer.

Greek and Balkan (Romanian): 17.7
Broadly European: 1.2
Ashkenazi Jewish: 0.9
West Asian and North African (Cypriot): 0.7

Interestingly, the 1.6 Arab/Egypt/Levantine matches precisely the 0.9 Jewish + 0.7 Cypriot. I'm not sure why it is showing so much northwestern though. Maybe because it was simulated. But, if you add the NW Euro to the Eastern Euro, it's pretty close.

Exactly, the goal of this calculator is to try to show possible modern ancestry, the MENA is supposed to be absorbed into the Southern_European reference unless there is an excess of it.
For example, French are scoring more NW Euro and less South Euro and Iberians more South Euro and less NW Euro due the overlap that there is between the 2 populations.
Ofc the model is not perfect, but it serves its purpose.

Shortened the distance? This new sample has 30 pures and near pures amerindians from South America/Caribbean/Central America/México, so it works like 23andme Amerindian sample as well.
Good question, there are like another 4 users whom would ask the same question jaja maybe your ancestry/roots are well definite and just don't overlap with other samples...so yeah, basically a coincidence or my model was very good :p lol

1) That NW euro score, still high but a bit lower here, as well. I'm not sure why she would score that high NW euro. I guess Basque ancestry can pull an Iberian northward, but I don't think she has much higher Basque input than the average Iberian or LatAm.
2) My father is 1/2 German, 1/4 Danish, rest is some Irish and a mystery little bit remaining (his mother was adopted and I only know of part of her bio heritage...my father does seem to harbor some kind of minor MENA ancestry of some kind. He never scores AJ, so I don't think it's that. It kind of behaves like it could be Sephardi Jewish. Not sure). My mother is 1/2 Polish (Belarus Poles), rest is Danish, Southern German, and 1/16 Ashkenazi.
