A friend of mine tried mescaline, and he didn't laugh too much...

It affects people differently but causes some to laugh maniacally for extended periods,

As far as I know, the physical effects such as nausea and vomiting are so unpleasant that rarely the psychotropic effects produced by its ingestion make it an entirely pleasant experience.

It is also true that this friend of mine did not precisely isolate the active ingredients in a laboratory, but instead took a homemade preparation made with San Pedro cactus that he himself grew.

You are talking about Peyote not Mescaline.
