Updown girl: DNA research shows ancient Britain was more diverse than we imagined

Her DNA, however, tells a more complex story. As well as 67% CNE ancestry, she also had 33% West African ancestry. Her African ancestor was most closely related to the modern day Esan and Yoruba population in southern Nigeria.

Normally it's a journalist who makes a big issue out of nothing (to the annoyance of the people involved) but this dope is the author of the paper.

Yes, I think ‘population groups’ is a more applicable term than ‘race’.

‘Race’ is a lot like ‘extended families’ My granddaughter’s two grandfathers are not any more genetically related to each other than they are to the rest of the population, so the concept of ‘extended family’ does not apply to people.

Whether you call it population group, race, or widget the concept is the same.

Often times I'll read comments to an article and I'm always amazed at how dumb people are.

The last paragraph ignores that those two grandparents will be genetically more similar to each other than to a West African, etc. and so I don't understand the point.

This paper found that about 76% of the genetic ancestry in the early medieval English population we studied originated from what is today northern Germany and southern Scandinavia – continental northern European (CNE).

Academia is a business like any other for some. He writes what people wanna read in exchange for the money from the journal, even if it means to distort/oversimplify the original article. Otherwise known as a hooker.

Most science outside physics is politically motivated statistical manipulation. Innumerate people characteristically have a strong tendency to personalize—to be misled by their own experiences, or by the media's focus on individuals and drama. From this it doesn't necessarily follow that mathematicians are impersonal or formal, though.

You have morons on this forum and others dabble in these non-physics science papers like dilletantes and treating them like gospel.
