In my opinion he was pred. Dinarid (or maybe borderline between the Dinaric and Noric types, but inclining more on the Dinarid side).

Dinarid/Norid with Alpinoid tendencies possible.

Typical French pseudo-Dinarid.

Real Dinarids are very rare in France but there are lots of fake Dinaromorphics who combine Alpinid traits on a leptomorphic base (North-Atlantid or Nordid).

Voltaire was on the Atlantid side, while another famour French writer of the Enlightenment age, Denis Diderot, was an Alpinised Pseudo-Dinarid on a Nordic basis:

Well, Voltaire was clearly not dolico-mesocephalic but meso-brachycephalic or brachycephalic (you can see his statues and busts). This fact led me to think about a Dinarid and/or Alpinid remarkable influence. His face was quite long, and his nose Dinaromorphic so I think Dinarid/Norid (and not Alpinid) is primarily in him. I can agree with you that there could have been also an Atlantid strain in him. Being his skin quite fair I can advance the hypothesis he could have been a Dinarid/Norid + Atlantid with minor reduced CM (Alpinid). But the Dinaroid features are quite obvious.

From what we have seems Leptoprosopic, with a narrow, shallow jaw and V shaped face, maybe even slight prognathism.
If confirmed brachycefally He probably would be in the Dinaric range (brachycefaly, long mid face section, V shaped face)
