People who have the T allele of the KIBRA rs17070145 gene have certain cognitive advantages.

The proportion of the T allele is higher in chess players and those with a PhD.
None of the chess grandmasters have the CC genotype.
Paper https://t.co/8ekBm3MiyI

This T variant of KIBRA rs17070145 has been associated in the past with better episodic memory and less cognitive decline with age (eg, paper, 2018) https://t.co/Gouh7rT1tJ

My genotype: C / T

From what I understand the T allele carriers have a better memory but a better memory ≠ smarter. It can help but it wont increase your intelligence.

It's silly to rely on only one variant to guess cognitive performance.

Thousand of variants are at play to increase or decrease global cognitive performance.

I’ve never been exceptional at chess but I’ve always enjoyed science-related subjects.
