I'd also like to do a test for northwestern Russia Belarus the baltics and Finland and maybe Northern Poland to see a breakdown of percentages of those groups only do you know if it's possible for someone without a special app to create a calculator like that I've never done it. Also if you know of a link to all the coordinates for all the samples could you send me a message or post it here? I wonder what happens when you combine both the ancient and the modern pop averages together or if you combined all the raw data for the ancient and the modern and then ran and unscaled test what it would look like.

Greetings! :) Southern Calabria is likely on average the most "southern shifted" areas in Italy, along with northeastern Sicily, so peoples from here can generally plot close to Askhenazi and other jewish groups due to the similar genetic composition. While i shouldn’t have any recent Jewish ancestry, some of my relatives show low percentage DNA matches with some Jewish individuals as well as Greeks, Asia Minor, the Levant, and nearby regions. This is perhaps explainable because the interactions with these populations in southern Italy, including Jews, likely occurred many times, also during the Roman era and later Middle Ages, persisted until around 1500, supported by the historical presence and interactions of the Byzantine and some Jewish communities. Over time, these groups were absorbed into the local population, contributing to the modern Calabrian and southern italian profiles. I think that the moderate to strong endogamy within these populations and specific families likely also preserved these genetic matches, explaining why they can still be detected through commercial dna tests today.

Yeah, right, also generally the dna of southern Italians, on average, has remained relatively consistent and was shaped since the Bronze Age. Depending on the region, it reflects a mix of Italic ancestry from various indigenous peoples (such as the "Bruttii" in Calabria), classical Greek influence from the colonies of Magna Graecia, especially along the coasts, and Phoenician and/or Carthaginian contributions. This genetic profile was further shaped during the Roman Imperial era, which brought additional influences, particularly from the eastern Mediterranean.

By the Middle Ages, new inputs, such as Jewish, Arab, Byzantine (Greece and Levant) and Longobard/Norman in some places, was introduced and varied in prevalence depending on the area. Coastal parts of Calabria, for example, tend to show a stronger Levantine and Arab component, while inland and mountainous areas, as well as the Grecanic zones, often display a genetic profile more heavily influenced by classical Greek and Anatolian. My father mtdna is H, my mum W1, my cousin U5a1, but i haven't tested for a more defined maternal haplos yet, i just did the Big Y for my paternal haplo. Wanna also test my maternal grandpa later, he is J-M92 and mtdna J1b1a.
