Hey dears.

Which raw data is better to get G25 coordinates from: MyHeritage, FTDNA or a merged raw data from these two?
I will try Illustrative DNA and soon I will buy an Ancestry kit.
Have a lovely day, sunshines!

mine is from FTDNA but it's not so different from My Heritage one so try the one u want :)

Thank you! I'm going to sent my merged one, it has above 110 thousand SNP's more than the single ones. I hope it improves their accuracy.

Btw how did you maked 'the merged' one?

From what i hearded the raw data of Genera, FTDNA and MH its nearly the same, i think independt of what u use the results will be similar
Also ik that g25/illustrativeDNA have a limit to how much SNP u use, so take caution with very big files of raw data, i think u can check that in their website

Yes,I did it with DNA Kit Studio 😁

Interesting, they don't accept big files... I could upload my merged raw data on GedMatch with no problem, the results are pretty the same, but the match list has changed a bit.

Merged is always better, if you have both of them, but they're largely the same, you have a function in FTDNA to transform the MyHeritage's raw data o theirs then it becomes the same.

I didn't know that, thank you.

I have AncestryDNA and I think it's still regarded as the best option for G25 use... Reason being is that it has the most SNP coverage

Thank you, Vader. I am going to take both

On the topic of merging, I merged my ancestry DNA and 23andMe data together per the recommendation from the user Eurafricanid, and my results now make much more sense. The distances are extremely close to western Iberian pops—particularly Portuguese (ignore Murcia - it is extremely western-iberian-like for some reason, lol).

Here is an image to show the differences:

It makes more sense in terms of lower distances to pops I'm near, and it would make sense to be genetically close to it since Portugal is highly homogenous. My AncestryDna and 23andMe loved to give me Castille y Leon before Portuguese and to completely destroy my distances, which I didn't understand why, as I plot very much in the Portuguese cluster. With more SNPs from merging, your coords will give you better results, and closer distances. In my case it found that my taforalt was inflated and lowered it to about what the avg Portuguese gets (or even slightly less), while supplementing it with my small ssa contribution I get. Seems to me with Ancestry and 23andMe alone, the statistical measure couldn't disperse my small genuine ssa contribution from my nafri, and with their threshold of snps it was lazy in giving me both inflated nafri + ssa. Now, imo it seems more realistic with what I've seen in my commercial results.

All things considered, my other data coords do not plot me much further from my merged ones regardless of the discrepancies found. That is a key indicator of some ounce of consistency. I recommend it if you have a similar case to me to merge raw dna though.

How do you find them against your previous ones? Also, did you merge your files with DNAgenics?

I know you didn't ask me but I used DNAGenics.

All my coords plot nearly the same which shows consistency (my merged is in the middle):

In terms of distances my merged coords are 1000000x better.

I used DNAGenics like Vader although i still need to experiment more with these new coords for a better conclussion.

merged is really too better , with my another coords sometimes a large percentage of Spain appeared but now appear only portugal and my ssa ancestry it's more accurate in West African with a little bit of East too , northern europe now also appear netherlands is the only region of the matches that I can triangulate that doesn't have distant Iberians in their family tree or in adn correspondence shared

look like a little bit Dark Age result from Humanitas
