Do you feel the map is accurate? Which country surprised you the most?

Imo the biggest surprise to me is just how few countries have less than 1 out of every 5 people in a condition of obesity. As for Spain, I understan why they are so fat, their food is the perfect midpoint between decadence and taste, I would gain weight like crazy there.

Obesity is a bit of a special condition, overweight is a better metric based on BMI. I would have assumed Dutch were more overweight based on what i ve seen (specially women). Apparently they re not, or there is a greater disparity between men and women there. UK that was definitely obvious.

Spaniard the runner-ups to the Brits. That always was the case in Western Europe. Spaniards also love to joke about Italian pasta dishes (at least an Andalusian woman I know does). Joke is on the fatty Spaniard honorary wetbacks.

Eastern Europe surpassing us it due to the men eating salo and not being able to refuse the babushkas.

Turks with all their kebab junk food. Over here fatty people also like that. One Turkish invention by their diaspora in the Netherlands.

So colour me unsurprised.

Does this correspond to IQ if you account for decadence?

As in, high IQ tends to be skinny because your ancestors never starved/had to carry extra weight to survive.

BMI 25 doesn't mean much. Muscular men easily pass 25. The limit weight for 180 cm is 81 kg. I am 181/78. Being lighter I would lose muscles.

Its rather our pastry like börek and baklava. Our mothers love making and of course eating them. By the way Turkish obesity isnt like American obesity. Just this=

Implying IQ is that meaningful, the differences between European countries are marginal and USAmericans would be all dumbasses, which is a lie as much as we love to joke about it.

Hoy many men and women are muscular nowadays though? Also bodybuilders (the majority of muscular men) are very unathletic. I get your point 100%, but athletic people over BMI 25 are not that big of a population.

Obesity or in other words waist fatness is a risk, not BMI alone.

Explanations :). Waist fatness is the scientific answer, believe me :). If your waist is over 90 cm you are fat

99% of the population is not muscular. Reality is not like instagram where everybody is going to the gym all day. Even high level athletes in soccer for example are considered fat over 24 BMI. Germany national team is at 23.2 BMI and all pros are in the 23. Over that you get to a special program and get called a fatass.

Gym rats might not look fat with a BMI over 25 (even though they are) and some sports require more muscles but it's anecodotical nationwide. The general population is gonna look overweight past 25 with very apparent bodyfat, which is obviously why they use this standard.

If it were to include overfat the numbers would be higher. Overfat meaning excess body fat that can impair health. Many people under 25 bmi still have excess body fat.

You won't get fat on meat (protein) and even fats, fat carbs in combo with them or in prevalence will make person fat.
