I just watched the 1. season from blue ray discs. I was not very keen of whole tv-serie (as much to watch it via HBO) even as I liked (mostly) The Game of Thrones.

Why I did not like the first season much?

Mainly because of the actors (especially House of Velaryon ... the propaganda/multiculturism shines miles away here vs original book).

Also the whole 1. TV-season was one kind of the prologue what will happen next / rest of the serie. Perhaps that was needed for the rest of serie, but in any cases it was bit boring. There will be 2. season for sure (most likely published the first half of 2024), and to get whole story told, probably 3. and even 4. season as well. So yes, the story line is clear already (opposite to Game of Thrones ... then the last tv-seasons were published). This is the second reason I just will not get hooked on this. Knowing how the all will end, or should end by book (1. season followed the storyline pretty well).

I was disappointed too.

I found the writing much inferior to GoT's.

It felt like an expensive tv soap opera to me.

The only characters who I feel equalled the quality of GoT's characters were King Viserys Targaryen and Alicent Hightower (the latter only pre time leap).

The actor who played King Viserys Targaryen was the standout actor for me.

Swapping actors mid season, that killed it for me. They should either have dodged the first part when they were younger or extent that part to keep the same actors growing up.

It was a catastrophic failure.

Yes. I did not know that to come (beforehand), so it surprised me too.

Let say ... producers can do that (if the timeline forces on that) but doing that with one (main) character (so clearly) and not so much with many many others ... felt weird.

In the past (when i was young) those black actresses-actors werent much different to me, i could watch without feeling anything negative. But since the start of this heavily "diversifying" i cant watch such things. Theyre very disturbing to me, painful to watch.

At first it was okay, because I watched it before Games of Thrones. Maybe Game of Thrones needed a prelude.

All being said, most likely the next seasons of this new tv-show will be better than the first one (or at least there will be more action). As all is over there will be no dragons alive (plus many characters have died too) ... like was at the beginning of GoT
(except ''the Cannibal'' which will fly away ... I hope they would show that dragon on this tv-serie at least shortly). A huge black one with deep green eyes; a free will / free soul, which never had a rider.

Well, the last rumor tells that HBO is planning another TV serie called Jon Snow sequel series ... which would be direct follow-up to Game of Thrones.

I guess that is up to this House of Dragons ... how much money HBO can still do with it.

Hopefully not. It is hard to imagine how to continue Games of Thrones either.

I have always found House Targaryen repulsive. I am not going to watch a show centered around them.
