What's death got to do but renew the hits?
What's death but a best in brand promotion?...RIP

It's a tribute to talent continuing beyond death. Okay, now go find a safe space that your prof. has reserved for you.

Wow, she really sucked at singing, though. Sounded like jack hammers on my ears.

Let's throw away what all the critics have to say. RB is the go to guy on music.

Apparently October 2013 was the beginning of the end for her when she had a stroke, intestinal cancer in 2016, and a kidney transplant donated by her husband in 2017. What's surprising is that at her age she managed to survive to this month.

Sometimes the beauty of tone takes a back seat to the character in the voice.
In fact, "pretty, pretty" voices without much character express little and get monotonous very quickly.

Well - ces't la vie. I guess her millions of unfortunate artistically-challenged fans just don't know as much about music as you do.

... get monotonous very quickly....

That's a good way to put it - music is in fact much more enjoyable when it is interesting, as opposed to tedious.

Oh let's get to the point. Will you FFS outgrow this insane pathological impulse to attack every. single. entertainer. who is more successful than you are? It's becoming a broken record. (Do you like the musical reference?)

I cited this youtuber earlier in this thread. I like his stuff even if he gets longwinded.
This video just dropped with an analysis of Turner's voice. Naturally, since he leaves out the part about "jackhammers", his understanding might be suspect.

Now that you mention it.
The smoky and the rare, unique quality of having vibrato in the voice is what I absolutely loved about her voice as well as this Amerind flute player’s, singer’s sound:

It just adds an extra layer and is so captivating …
"Jackhammers" – did I miss it what do you mean by that?

vibrato

My favorite.

Edit: I won't mention other singers and their use of vibrato to elaborate - out of respect for Tina.

Yeah, that is why I only provided a link to the second vibrato singer, whom I :love0033: … but who has also passed on …

Interesting though ….

“Tina Turner had long believed her mother had significant Native American ancestry, specifically Navajo and Cherokee” ….

Tina Turner was born on 26th November 1939 to Zelma and Floyd Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee. Her father was African American; her mother was half-Cherokee, quarter European, and quarter African-American.

Who is to say, maybe she did have one distant Native American ancestor (?)

"Home" was a villa near Küsnacht on Lake Zurich, where she had lived since the 1990s. The over one-acre estate in Switzerland, which she named "Algonquin" after her Native American grandmother, was a place where Tina enjoyed her retreat from show business alongside her German husband Erwin Bach.

Saw a movie about her yesterday. Didn't know she had such a terrible life and her husband/menager was brutally beating her.

Rest in peace.

Hahahaha, Meade always comes through….she was everything that just crushes his soul. A rich black woman who is a BILLION times more successful as a singer than him. So therefore she is a bad singer. Oh what a maroon.

I found "Wings of Pegasus" a few years back. He was in my feed right after the death of Nanci Griffith with a video about her "Travis picking". He has done videos on fairly diverse musicians and bands. He is more all over the place than I am. He points out things that one hears but one doesn't really know they are being heard.

"Jackhammers" was pure petty snark on my part.

She was A Buddhist, which is unfortunate.
