A lot more Meddish than I'd expect for their location. I bet at least some of them are Iberian/Italian descendants.

Almost all of them are Alpid, predominantely Alpid in various combinations; Alpid+Med influence, Alpid+Atlantid influence...

French aren't pale as British or Nordic
A bit more pale than Iberians and Central Italian yes

Northern French don't look that different from the British. The gap is more noticeable the further south in France you go.

I think Aherne said that the northern French have more of a British component but still have those rather typical alpine-med-subnordic mixes that charectarise the basic French population, what is noticeable in the above pic is the lack of many Brunns and Borrebies, most are more gracile.
