Probably the majority though yellowish or beige shades are common in a large number, maybe 30-40% of the total

Fitzpatrick III type skin is the most common type in both Germany and Scandinavia. It tends not to be especially florid like Fitzpatrick II typical of the British Isles often is. Neutral "peachy" tones are more characteristic.

Sallow skin is found in a significant minority of Southern Germans, but not nearly as common as among Northern Italians who tend to have a warmer undertone. This is clearly shown by the significant difference in darker skin found between Italians from Trento (Welschtiroler) and German-speaking Tyroleans (Deutschtiroler) in Ernst Frizzi's research.

Fitzpatrick III is the most common type everywhere in Europe except the British Isles (Fitzpatrick II) and Mediterranean lands (Fitzpatrick IV).

Very true. Though I think that both neutral and warm tones can have the tanning ability of Fitzpatrick III. The undertones may vary even with same skin type.

The vast majority have pinkish white unexposed skin, but most can tan very well unlike the British.

Are the skin undertones more cool or neutral? I don't think vascularity is quite as common as with the British Isles.

If it is the most common type among Whites in neighboring Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, and German Switzerland why would ethnic Germans be any different overall?

Some websites associate type III with Southern Europeans, but it is really the most typical European type.
