A GROUP of Islander and African men repeatedly kicked and punched another man during a vicious armed robbery at Dandenong train station.
Police believe the victim, a 24-year-old man from Doveton, lay unconscious on the ground for some time after the early morning attack on November 19.
The attack happened after the man boarded a Dandenong-bound train at Clayton just before 12.15am.
He had a conversation with a number of men described to police as of Islander and African appearance.
When all the men got off at Dandenong station, the victim was followed into a rear car park and struck with a weapon believed to be an iron bar.
He fell to the ground and was repeatedly kicked and punched by a number of the men before having his backpack stolen.
The victim got back on his feet but was struck again, causing him to fall, hit his head on the ground and knocking him unconscious.
