Well, Novi Fosili aren't Ottomanic, although they are a bit pathetic, like all pop groups of that time... Abba was too.
But in general, most of music from this region is gypsy, ottomanist, oriental... Especially in last 20 years. I always say that turbo-folk is guilty for all bad what happened in region because it kills human brains and bring out only the worse from people (assassination on brain cells). It's enough to look how people act on any party where this music is played, total degradation of moral. Drunk half-naked girls dancing on the tables and aggressive uncultured men breaking glasses and act like monkeys. Sad Balkan reality. :coffee:

You can easily compare Yugoslav music with Lebanese one
HVFMh4mEa-E
some melodies and music are very similar.
And it's funny because south slavic languages have not affinities with arab. If anyone hear you speaking could confuse you for Russians or any other slavic people, never with arabs.

I think some of those tones in the Lebanese music are actually copied from the Balkans. I don't think that was their style back in the day..
I just want to add that Yugoslav music is extremely popular by even non-Yugoslavs. Their music varies greatly and there are so many different sounds. They always had a huge music industry.

Although it's played by ''singers'' and ''musicians'' of Serbian ethnicity, it's not really our music. That music is one of the factors that ruin Serbia actually! Look at any of those lyrics and you will realize that no smart and sane person can listen to it. :coffee:

Although it's played by ''singers'' and ''musicians'' of Serbian ethnicity, it's not really our music. That music is one of the factors that ruin Serbia actually! Look at any of those lyrics and you will realize that no smart and sane person can listen to it. :coffee:

And it's funny because south slavic languages have not affinities with arab. If anyone hear you speaking could confuse you for Russians or any other slavic people, never with arabs.
you forget 500-600 years of Turkish rule

I disagree and don't believe that some music genre on it's own can ruin any country (culturally speaking) in this world.
Now, I naively thought this thread is for fun only and it comes really disappointing to see you ppl arguing... and more to it, you push it so much that some might think their taste in music is somewhat less appreciated here!

Udaran šakom na šank ka kerum,
vadin pare ka kerum, sa frizurom ka kerum,
pročita san jednu knjigu u životu, jednu više nego kerum
Dublje san u igri nego pop u dici,
duže san u igri nego igla u žili
Pederu premekan si, ja san pretvrd,
mirišeš na pičku, ja mirišen na smrt

Sedlo mi je od marame,

A bic mi je od ocevog

Hajde rago sto si lenja

How do you get the videos to pop up fully, instead of just the link?
Close your eyes and tap your heels together three times. And think to yourself, "there's no place like home".
How do you get the videos to pop up fully, instead of just the link?
1/ 'click' on a youtube icon (it is located above the window you use to reply to thread, on the right hand side)
2/ use only part of the youtube link after = (equality sign) and paste it in between youtube option ('words' like when you quote someone).
I hope this helps...
