Mendoza and Izquierdo/a are words of Basque origin.

And from that list only these exist in Portugal as Mendonça (common) and Esquerdo (very rare).

Sandoval is a spanish habitational name from Burgos, Murcia o Malaga
Arevalo is a habitational name too, from provinces of Avila and Soria
And Troconis is very rare, dont know the origin.

How common are Mendoza and Izquierdo in Spain, and in which region more specifically?

Interesting, didnt know there were portuguese variants of those surnames. This is probably going to be a dumb question, but does that means those portuguese are of basque origin?

Mendoza is more common in provinces of Arava and Biscay.
Izquierdo origin of Basque "ezker", but dont know where is more common.
