Supposedly the majority of white Australians are of Welsh and Irish descent and until the 1960s they practically did not mix with native Australians.

English, then Irish, then Scots and many other Europeans such as Italians, Germans, Greek, Dutch, Polish, Maltese and Croatians before the Welsh. Out of all Isles diasporas the Welsh have the least amount of immigrants.

Ok To be honest, I understand more about the history of Europe than Australia,But as far as I know, in Australia there were quite a few Welsh immigrants. For example, one of the states in Australia is called New South Wales.

Yes it is but that doesn't mean there are more Welsh. :) It was Captain Cook that named it New South Wales. The 2021 Census figures gives those figures.

That was named that for some unknown reason by Captain Cook (from Yorkshire), probably as an homage to the Prince of Wales.

There were more Cornish migrants to Australia than Welsh.

The only somewhat funny one is Santo Cilauro (Italian), but that's because he generally steers away from 'wog humour'.

What are some examples of top-notch Australian comedians or comic actors? I know Jim Jefferies but he is...meh. Paul Hogan is a bit dated.

On the subject of wog comedians, Eric Bana was a big comedian in Australia (on Full Frontal) before he became famous in Hollywood, but I didn't think he was very funny.

1. Very woggy looking indeed, looks fucking Armenian or Iranian! Anatolid to Cappadocian med. Possibly a Greek of Anatolian descent
2. Err not that woggy looking, fits within French and Swiss Italian. Regular alpine.
3. Cute and cuddly. Alpinized dinaro med.
4. Looks like Paula Abdul. Syrian Jew looking. Hair is clearly pretty curly as I can see from her roots. Another Greek of Anatolian descent, and she may as well could have distant Semitic Aramean as these people have been around that area in the past. Anatolid.

How representative would you say these four are phenotypically of Southern Euros in Australia?

They are fairly representative although there are more Italians. Italian Australians are quite common. Melbourne has a lot of Greeks more so than the West.

He looks very Celtic.

Santo does not look Celtic (not really sure what that is anyway?). :) Also Mary Coustas looks Greek. Her hair isn't that curly that's just a character she plays.

I went ahead and looked at some of these comedians on YouTube. All are pretty witty and similar to American comedians but maybe a touch more dry. It's all pretty representative of Australia's halfway point between English and American culture.

Although Lano and Woodley are classic slapstick as well as witty. Their TV show from the late 90s was brilliant (filmed a few minutes walk from where my brother lives).

The most famous Australian ethnic sitcom in the 80s/90s was Acropolis Now, but that show was bloody awful from what I've seen of it. Effie and Nick Giannopoulos got their fame from it. Pizza/Fat Pizza was the ethnic sitcom of the 00s, but I never watched it.

The Australian version of All in the Family in the 70s/80s was Kingswood Country, which was pretty lame but has its politically incorrect charm. The main character would always say 'watch it, wog!' to the smartarse Italian character :icon_lol:
