Hello everyone. There is not much discussion going on about combining raw data sets, and I've noticed when I merge my Ancestry & 23andMe raw data BY POSITION the resultant file is giving very different results on some calculators when compared to merging my two data sets BY RSID. Merging by RSID barely alters any results from the original files.
I'm finding virtually no help online in understanding why these discrepancies are showing up and I want to understand which merged data set is the most accurate and reliable. I use the DNA Kit Studio v.2.9 to do these merges, and it works very well.
My Eurogenes K36 results, and subsequent nMonte, Ethnic Fit, and Oracle have changed significantly, and interestingly, when merging my data BY POSITION. Is this the best and most accurate result? Or is the RSID merge the most accurate? Does anyone here know? If merging BY POSITION is best for some reason, then my ethnicity estimates appear to be much different now than when using just an individual data set or a merged by RSID data set.
Thank you in advance.
I am also curious, if you have two data sets, can you merge your own data by POSITION into one file and then by RSID in another, and run your own calculators to see the difference? Are you getting very different K36 results also? Please share what you are finding out. Thanks again. :thumb001:
