Oftentimes what southern Europeans consider blond, northern Europeans consider light brown. I have had southern Europeans tell me my hair is blond and my eyes are green, bur my hair is brown and my eyes are brown, as an example.

I would say that in southern Germany light brown to dark blond hair is the most common, while in northern Germany, brown hair is still the most common but there is more variation and extremes from raven colored to red to "platinum" blond. Iirc the Germans who settled in Brazil are mostly south German, such as Gisele Bündchen, and her hair color would be classified as light brown hair in morthern Europe and is the typical color I'm refering to.
