I am asking since I have seen some similarities among Western Turks and Italians as well as Iberians sometimes

not very close genetically:

for a reference on what the #'s mean. The lower the # the better the distance and it will appear greener. These are red/purple bc they are quite far.

My dad (southern Portuguese) for example with iberian references is exceptionally close to all Iberian populations but very very distant from Western Turkey.

But to create an even better illustration here is a stereotypically Mediterranean sample, a southern Italian sample with spanish/portuguese vs the western turkish sample:

Although Eastern Sicily is genetically not that alike to iberians (northern italians are closer to iberians), they are still closer than turkish (who appear the most distant).

Hope that helps.

There is no such a thing Western Turks.

Do you mean Western Anatolian Turks? Or Turks of Eastern Thrace? Or Turks in Balkans?

Maybe Western Anatolian Turks. But I'd extend it to Turks of Eastern Thrace and Turks in the Balkans as well

Italians or Iberians are not genetically very close to Turks, but most individuals with (Euro-leaning) Mediterranean features can walk interchangeably and discreetly in any of these countries.

Makes sense. Can you know Italians and Iberians and Turks from your point of view?

I think so, in general. If we're talking about a single individual in the middle of a group, it can be more tricky.

Yeah I understand, sensible. How can you know if I may ask?
